It is hard as i have no spare money to get take out or go out,
But he can when he wants to.
Some changes needed there I think.0 -
I'm glad your system works for you, but again, what happens to the surplus income of the higher earner ?balletshoes wrote: »Whats left in my account is usually more than enough for me to treat myself the way I want to, and whats left in his is more than enough for him. He does have different spending habits to me, thats why the separate accounts work for us. If one of us was constantly struggling on what was left over in our own account, I can imagine that would cause resentment, and we'd need to look at that again. But its not the case in our household, and it works for us.
My wifes contribution (in cash tems) over our marriage, would not cover her half (:rotfl:) of the basic housing costs.
"If" we were to divorce, she is entitled to half of everything, if I die everything is left to her, it seems mighty strange that if the two worst scenarios occur she gains, but while we are happy she should have nothing.0 -
Our bills, our money, so we both pay the same amount into our bill paying account. At present, DH is earning more than me, so has more disposable income and although its his money to spend how he wants, and my money to spend how I want, we would never see each other doing without.0

Didn't you say on another thread your OH rarely goes out but it doesn't stop you?
Does your OH live with you? And he pays nothing? No food, gas, electricity, CT. You must be mad :eek:0 -
I dont suppose I could offer to replace his services ?twigglet35 wrote: »My oh earns lot more than me but its my house so i pay for everything.

I'd be happy to get you a take out, or take you for a meal/whatever.
Are you serious ? He must be a real catch.0 -

So why don't you ask him to pay half the utility and shopping bills? Easy solution.0 -
I have tryed to talk to him about paying abit but, he works 3 nights aweek, so thinks he should only pay for when hes there and i mean he went through the bills and worked out how much it would cost by the hour for eveything, ie gas, elc, ct, water, the lot and as my son (19) lives with me, he divided it by 3 and said thats all hes going to pay lol
well i lost me rag and said stick it (done me self out in the end)
He has lived at home for 40 years and had it very easy.0 -

That's the problem - that should read "well i lost me rag and threw him out".0 -

No offence and I'm sure you love him 'n' all but I have no clue why you'd be with someone so utterly stingey. Seriously, went through costs by the hour? Jebus wept.0
