  • Can anyone please give me some advice.

I've been given a Motorola L7 phone. My Dad had it on a contract with Orange but I want to use it as a pay as you go phone using my Virgin Mobile sim card.

I never knew you could get phones unlocked for free until I heard Martin on Radio 1 the other day. Just can't seem to find the right web-site for this phone.

    The IMEI is 358011003074718

Thanks to anyone that can help.

    is it a k610i or a w610i?
Its a k610i SE. I had it on a contract through a provider that used Vodafone ES (Spain). Like all good things it was suspended. The contract on there part was broken so I cancelled the CONtract. If it was possible just to use a Vodafone UK sim it would be fine. I have contacted vodafone uk with various confusing theories/fixes, ranging from unlocks of £20 to just fit the UK sim.

    no free way.

a local shop/market stall should be able to unlock it for you, but it may work out expensive if its got the latest security certificates on it

If there is no free way, what would be the way if I was to pay?
Not that I want to spend a fortune, but otherwise it seems like a waste of a good new phone if I give up now.

    Thanks

It will need to be unlocked from Vodafone ES before you can use any UK SIM in it. At the moment it is locked to their network.
