Hi,
Great forum.
I was hoping someone could help with unlocking a Sony Ericsson W880i.
I am in Australia, my father-in-law brought it from Germany and left it for me incase my phone breaks.
It is branded Vodaphone.
IMEI 35578501-776070-0-25
Thx in advance.0 -

any vodafone sim should work in it
Sorry, but No
Any Vodafone PAYT sim will work in it, but they are barred in more than 1 way, you will need to unlock the whole phone to be able to get a Contract Sim to work in it, they work using different softwareSaving for a lovely summer holiday. Will it be Evesham or Egypt???0 -

no free way.
a local shop/market stall should be able to unlock it for you, but it may work out expensive if its got the latest security certificates on it0 -

just another point (don't know if it'll help anyone else on this thread or not) - from my time working with Vodafone handsets prior to October 2004 were GID1 locked, meaning you could only use a pay as you talk SIM card in them. After October 2004 this was removed and it became possible to use either a contract or a pay as you talk SIM in a payt handset0 -
I finally got one that worked. With the cost of posting back the old clip recorded delivery It would have been almost as cheap and a lot quicker going the same route as yourself
I bought one 5th SEPTEMBER fromplatinumsolutionsuk, took 3 weeks to arrive, didn't work, have returned it at my expense and now still waiting for a replacement.
Definately should have just gone into town and got it done in a shop!:hello: weebro0 -
I was lucky that when I returned mine they had just got the updated clips that day. If you are still having no luck in a week pm me and I'll loan you mine0
