  • I moved into my house over a year ago and EE I inherited them as my gas supplier. My meter has just snaffled £1.20 for £5.00 emergency credit, leaving me in emergency credit! I also cant discover their tarriff rate, but it doesn't half chew through my money.

How do I change from this firm? My electricity is from Scottish Power and I don't have the same problem

    Can any one give advice?

Have now read posts above! What a rip off!
  • Had one of economy energy sales advisors knock on my front door today. I was in a bit of a rush as we were about to go out and didn't listen to the guy. I stupidly signed over to their "contract". He did say i have 14 days to cancel. Can I just ring them up to cancel this or am I now in for a rough ride to stop this. I thought he was getting an information pack sent out but I've received an email saying welcome to economy energy. The email says I'm estimated to pay approximately £200 more than I do with SSE.
    Little bit worried now tbh.

  • Had a look on citizens advice website and it seems that as the sales advisor knocked on my door it was an off-premises sale, therefore they had to give me information about the contract, cancelling, prices and time scales. This did not happen so under ICAC 2013 regulations I have no official contract. It also states on the CA website that you can cancel within the 14 days and no money is exchanged. It is against the law to supply a contract without the above information so if EE don't cancel it, I'll be straight on to trading standards which is what it advises.

  • Right not really a forum guy but economy energy has really got me on edge, had a rep knock on my door seemed quite pushy to begin and suggested EE for my pre payment gas. He left a card with the cost and savings and kept telling me multiple times about an annual return of £55 which he swears he receives no idea the truth in this. I thought nothing of it believing that the decision was ultimately mine and that if I wanted to join I could at a later date, after researching this company i found nothing except a bad website and decided to stay away. The next morning I got a phone call saying I have been switched and can take upto three weeks can they just switch you after no formal contract and what's the likely hood of the 14 day cooling off period going through easily really worried now as this company really pushed me into a contract with no information.
  • Please stay away from Economy Energy! I was pushed into signing up with them. Although they offer you savings, this comes at a cost! They're a nightmare to get them to come out & fix problems! You have to wait days to get them to fix things! They don't call back when they say they will! And in the meantime, I'm being charged £4.30 per day on a second faulty meter, while they sit on their backsides & come up with excuse after excuse as to why they won't just sort it out! Even though I've told them I'm on benefits & have disabilities & can't afford the now £120 per four weeks that my stupid meter is charging me (that's £4.30 per 24 hours)! Don't take the risk! The "savings" come at a hefty price! Stress included!
  • i had a guy knock my door he explained to me about the electric i could save with dual fuel tariff with economy 7 meter siged the pad to agree after he told me about how much i,ll save,as soon as i did that woosh he was out the door left me in dust.
i checked the website, found your cant email them but has a phone number yes 11 digits like a mobile but haven,t called it,i then checked them with ofgem & they had a licence revoked & they changed there address 3 times, saw a bit of info saying that they had been refused the right to trade, now i have got to hope my switch dont happen & i,ll be on the phone to my current supplyer first thing in the morning.
  • No company can refuse your choice to switch they cant stop you,get a solicitor involved and take them to court there soon say ok switch.
  • ask your electric supplyer if they supply dual fuel or gas if so ask them if they could take over supplying you your gas.
if they dont then call British gas there supply your gas & they are dis continueing standing charges so you will save on your gas.
