Do you have anything to back this up?
The only other brands I know of that are linked to British Gas are Scottish Gas, Nwy Prydain (both regional), Sainsbury's and Mobile Energy (me) - so I'd be interested to see where Economy Energy fit in
It sounds like you aren't talking about a conventional energy supplier - they can't tie you in for more than 12 months (and even only one supplier uses this and you can buy them out).
I've no idea what biomass heating is. My best guess would be piped heat from a furnace burning biomass neary.
Found this:

So while BG will be administering it, the housing association is the supplier - no mention of Economy Energy.0 -
econergy (a british gas company - website says so ) install the system then bills you as economy energy - yes it gets more dubious as we go! A grey area! I plan to get this clarified.
Exactly, a BG rep who doesn't know what I'm talking about - sorry but how can you comment on a system if you agree you know nothing about it? But don't worry - you're not the only one at BG!! LOL.
More grey areas - how is the housing involved? Well their my landlord who is supposed to be looking after our welfare and a local authority who is supposed to protect us from getting ripped off. It is not absolutely clear who will be delivering the pellets but I'm going to find out eventually when people start talking to me.:rotfl:0 -
Its a district-heating scheme [21 high-rise containing 1156 flats], funded via ECO and includes EWI by EL [part of BG], the pellet system generates so much confidence that it needs a series of standby gas-fired boilers just in case. As with all Green Steal and ECO watch out for the wild promises made. See the ASA ruling.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. However, I think it is clear that the company you are talking about is not the one the rest of the thread is talking about.unitetowin wrote: »Exactly, a BG rep who doesn't know what I'm talking about - sorry but how can you comment on a system if you agree you know nothing about it? Secondly, this isn't a conventional supplier (no individual can go and sign up to them), so my comment stands - regardless of whether I knew about this particular system.0 -

Well this the original conpany named by spinningsheep and the same one i've been talking about that's on the paperwork. My comments are not directed at you but the companies mentioned. It is still my view all these are linked - why would one install the system and NOT be linked to the other who bills you - doesn't make logical sense.0 -
Richie you've got it spot on. Good information.0

My gas supply was cut off 2 months ago so i rang british gas who i have always been with to find out another company had taken over my supply over a year ago never authorised by myself. BG kindly told me my new supplier was economy energy who i rang and tried to explain there was an error with my meter and i had no gas. 5 days the man on the phone told me to get an engineer to come and fix it, i argued and explained i have a 1 year old in the house i need gas. He put me on hold for 20 minutes then came back and told me i could have an engineer within 4 hours but it would cost me over £200 for the call out as it would be an engineer who doesnt actually work with them i was gobsmacked what could i do i needed gas. I explained if the man got to my house and just clicked a button and it came back on i wouldnt be paying a thing. The engineer came within an hour he was brilliant he worked for Ovo and he didnt put a charge through it was jutst a valve problem. I called BG and three times have requested transfer back to them and 3 times Economy energy have refused, i was at my wits end with them but we are moving soon so just holding out. Now to add insult to injury it seems they can charge what the hell they want over christmas i had to put £12 on each of my gas and electric yesterday as when we got up my meters said i owed loads, then today our gas and electric has gone which was strange ive gone to put emergency on and would you believe we owed another £10 on the gas and over than on electric no option for emergency. They are definitely not cheaper. Stay clear of these0

ive been a customer of economy energy for just over a year now ... the reason i changed to them from british gas was because they promised me that there would never charge a surcharge for a prepayment meter the tariff was 15.72 per unit... they have now told me that ive got to change to there new tariff of 15.209 per unit and 18.9 standing charge per day which means my bill for the year is over £80 ...... this is breach of contract and im now having trouble changing supplier so if your tghinking of changing DONT as there not even on any of the switching sites so cant do a comparison0

Leederby and others with similar complaints ...
I don't know if you are aware but this company is under a serious misselling investigation by Ofgem (Just Google Economy Energy and you will see a Utility Week article dated 29 Sep 2014). This investigation must not be confused with a previous investigation for poor customer services!
You MUST report your cases to Ofgem's appropriate team ... They will be very interested to know how you were sold your contract and any other issues!0 -
To report to Ofgem, the number to call is 020 7901 71210
