It seems we have a lot of people throwing there irons in the fire and passing comment on economy energy when you know nothing of them.
Just for the record the big 6 energy providers have had more complaints and fines for mis-selling then economy energy FACT!
and id imagine you pay your bills to them?? unless you burn your own fuel , i will tell you why its because no one is perfect, give this company a break for breaking the choke hold on pre payment customer who are generally on the lowest income and they pay in advance? and they get charged the most.
so hats off to economy energy only time will tell if they too get too big for there boots but in the meantime they have my customer i am calling them now to switch over and do away with them silly standing charges!!:T0 -
I am the same as a lot of you guys. My daughter and myself signed over to EE in Birmingham city centre. It was May 2013 I have tried to change back to British Gas and have been told that EE objected, did I owe money. I am PAYG so no I dont owe money. Seems I need to pay£50 to leave the contract earlier than the 12 months contract. I have never had a key for the electric or a card for the as, I still use my Britis gas ones. My daughter had no gas a couple of weeks ago. Just no supply. She tried calling EE and couldnt get through, so she called Npower her previous supplier. They gave her a different number to call and she got through first time. They told her they would send a new one the following day, they didnt. It arrived three days later and she told them she had a three year old. The card when it came had a £20 credit on for her trouble. She wants to change back to her previous supplier too but can't. I am more lucky I will be moving house so I will get my new supplier.0

Hello.
What can I do.
A woman from this econimy energy company was at my door talking to my wife telling her that they specialise in prepaid meters.
She told my wife about being charged for using emergancy credit and that their tarrifs was cheaper than British Gas.
My wife asked to see a tarrif comparison and the woman didn't have this information with her.
She told my wife she would send her one through the post and requested her name and left.
I tryed to topup online which I always do and could'nt login.
This is when I called British Gas to find out why and was told it's because I left British Gas and they would re apply for my account back to British Gas.
A short time later British Gas sent me a letter telling me the transfer was rejected.
Aparently my account was terminated and debt payed off by Econimy Energy and opened in my wifes name with Ecominy Energy.
The company has NEVER sent me or my wife anything any paperwork or letters but we did recive a key and card in a jiffy bag with no letters or anything.
My wifes signature was clearly forged by this company and my debt paid by them and put on my wifes account..(is this even legal!)
British Gas told me theres nothing they can do to get my account back [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM].
I have tryed to contact the company however no numbers work and the company address is an empty house!
What should I do?0 -

I have been with economy energy since 2013, and can honestly say they have saved me more money than my previous provider (N power). and I would highly recommend economy energy if ever you want to save money on your energy supply.0

Gas and electricity provider Economy Energy has been told it must clean up its act or risk having its licence taken away.
RELATED MSE GUIDES
Energy regulator Ofgem issued the warning to Economy Energy, which supplies gas and electricity to about 50,000 customers, after it was found to be slow in solving customers' problems. (Join our Cheap Energy Club to find your best deal.) Ofgem says it is particularly concerned that some prepayment customers have had trouble contacting Economy Energy to resolve issues, including how to get their supplies reconnected. The energy firm was also found to have unfairly blocked some customers from switching suppliers. Ofgem has now issued Economy Energy with a provisional order, which means the company must improve as soon as possible. If it fails, Ofgem can impose a fine of up to 10% of the company's turnover or even revoke its licence to supply energy.
Steps to improve service
Ofgem first set out steps that Economy Energy needed to take in order to improve its service in February. But while Ofgem says the company has moved in the right direction, it says more still needs to be done.
Under the provisional order, Economy Energy must:
Reduce the time it takes to get a disconnected customer back on supply.
Extend its call centre opening hours.
Make sure customers can switch away.
Ofgem will continue to monitor Economy Energy's performance, and says the measures set out will stay in place indefinitely.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. ee are a subsidury of british gas. we are at present having refurb work done to all blocks of flats in our borough and bg is paying a large amount of the bill and need to re-coup money somehow.
my own experience of bg is that they tried to rip me off when i switched to them - the rep told me lies basically. this was confirmed later when they were critisised for misselling.
back to ee - somehow our housing authority in solihull let ee install central heating radiators in flats which replaced the inefficient brick type ecomony 7 heating radiators. now we were told that the new BIOMASS heating system would be cheaper to run and all sorts by our authority. HOWEVER, not so it seems.
someone in ALL camps made a big BO BO. Nobody was told IN ADVANCE of the install how much the tariff would be, nobody was told IN ADVANCE that once they credit the prepayment meter that they then enter a two year contract with EE.
I know this even though it's not fitted to my flat yet because it's been fitted to my daughters flat up the road and i've read all her paperwork from ee WHICH YOU ONLY GET AFTER THE SYSTEM IS INSTALLED and not before. How wrong is that!
I CAN tell you the tariffs are on the back of the paperwork and are as follows so far - remember this is for a day and night rates.
For the FIRST year = 20.57p day and 7.72p night rates AND exit fee £50 if you leave before the end date (if you can LOL). NO standing charge - remember this.
Second year rates = 17.42p day and 6.84p night. No exit fee BUT now comes a standing charge of 18.9p per day.
At the moment I am with E ON and the same rates are = 17.504p day and 7.130p night, Plus standing charge of 26.019p per day.
Funnily enough even though she has two kids she uses LESS electric than me on my own! A difference of about 150 Kwh per year. And yet our bills for the year are literally pennies apart, so how is biomass and all that hype cheaper - basically it isn't because BG and EE HAVE to make a profit and this is why the consumer WILL NEVER have cheaper bills if you stay on the prepayment method.0
