oh thats a shame on the freezer, its the waste that I hate. Here its usually because a boy goes out to the garage for an ice cream and doesn't shut it properly.

I think it has probably failed in the hot weather and restarted, as if I had left the door open there would have been a puddle and I didn't see one. It does seem to be running again now, which is perhaps just as well since the one I have ordered is not available right away and I may want ice!

A new one can also be fitted properly which will look better so that is a bonus too. The house seems to have slightly different ideas about the sequence of things that need to be done than I was thinking!

Exactly what I was about to say

sorry to hear about the freezer Rosa, it is infuriating to lose food like that - try and think of it as an enforced stock take. x

New fridge freezer will arrive in another week and it is just as well I did order one, as the fridge doesn't look to be keeping to temperature either. Though that's a lot less worrying so will be fine in the meantime. That will have to be funded partly through this month's paycheque which isn't ideal but I have chosen to stick with adding to my pots rather than miss a month for those, and it's on a CC anyway so it's fine.

Had a lovely weekend with friends and am just finishing up the usual bits around the house. It was lovely to realise that I could go away without anything hanging over me as I have finally got most things sorted. I think it's time to just focus on things I enjoy.

I didn't get the job, but don't mind as am not sure it was quite what I wanted and I wasn't looking forward to the travel. As much as the extra money would be nice, I don't need it and I know just how lucky I am to be in that situation.

It made me a little sad today to realise that both sets of my neighbours were out in one of their gardens. I'm not surprised they didn't think to invite me as I am often not here and I really needed to do some stuff having been away, but the contrast with just having come back from my friends' has made me realise again that I may need to think about the longer term. And about a campervan to start exploring where that may be :D

Glad you had a nice time with friends. Living alone it can feel weird when you have been away and come back, especially seeing your neighbours sharing time together. Have a good week :)

    Thanks DIA

I guess it reminded me how scattered my friends are. It's not as if I have invited them round here either - we chat in passing, but I have still not got round to having a party here as I keep meaning to get various things sorted first - and I am much happier here than in the flat, but it did remind me that I don't have my tribe on my doorstep and that it would be nice if I did. Something will work out :)

That's a pain about the freezer Rosa but at least it's alerted you to the fact that you're not eating enough bacon... ;)

Get where you're coming from with the neighbours too - although it may be as simple as currently still being seen a bit as the "new person" perhaps, and there may be more inclusiveness as they get more used to you and the summer wears on.

Camper van progress sounds exciting! :T

I think it's also about realising that I haven't exactly fallen in love with this place and got really engaged with the village. I'm finding a few things I may go to in the local town, but my FB feed has more groups in an entirely different part of the world. I think you in particular may understand where I'm coming from (and hopefully going to in campervan) :D

Yep - absolutely get that way of thinking/looking at things!

Where we are now is very much an "it will do" - I don't dislike it, it's a perfectly pleasant town, but it's not where my heart is if I'm honest - in part as we were forced into choosing it as a result of property in London just being too expensive, and when we bought that was before the "real" solidity of the Hebrides dream had taken hold. I don't feel any real sense of belonging there though.
