Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 18th January 2013 - . This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well

No snow here overnight, but it started about 1/2 hr ago, at least the drive to work wont be too bad, meant to be getting a load more during the day though.

As I said off to work today, will take it very slowly due to the slippery roads, dinner tonight is meatballs with pasta, dd said she would cook, her boyf is coming for dinner so he can help too , need to do another wash tonight and get in on the rads airer.

Well no snow drifts at the door this morning.....it is snowing lightly tho.
Dd1 school is closed, dd2 will prob got then leave early. My old lady has rung to tll me not to worry . I'll see what its like at 9.

So as yet not sure what's happening today. Onion soup was lastnight was lovely. Tea tonight bitsys spicy sausage

Morning all,

woke up much brighter today. Sore throat much better, cough still troublesome but not half as bad as it has been. Slept right through till the dogs got me up at 3am to be let out which was a bonus. They got me up again at 5 and so i stayed up. It was profitable though cause i came to my senses about a few things that have been on my mind lately.

Sometimes your too close to see an overall picture (if that makes sense and not strong enough to let go). I just needed a shove in the right direction which i got last night.

Morning Redruby and all who follow. just had a snowy walk with Jack who loves the snow and Loki who was having his first taste of it. Lots of white stuff here and a lot more where I work so a snow day for me today:j Will have a quick tidy and put WM on and then do some schoolwork and a bit of sewing. Went to the shops yesterday so have plenty of food. Hugs to all in need and hope everyone stays warm and safe. Have a good day all:)

We have a covering of snow hear this morning but most of it is left over from Monday when we had loads. We are forecast more this afternoon but only light at the moment.

DS has his last exam this afternoon so fingers crossed for him.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Now gettting light, no new snow overnight, roads don't look too bad at the moment but we're forecast heavy snowfall later today - so am going to take boys to school go straight to do the couple of jobs in town I need to get done then I'm coming home and staying here! Have another guy from a bathroom company coming this morning at 10am so will see what he has to talk about - other guy seemed very good and has given us something to think about but think the cost will make that choice out of our reach.

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was a bit disjointed boys had chicken and ham kievs, jacket pot, and corn on the cob. DH has egg and bacon sandwich and I had fish, jacket pot and green beans. All ate at different times as bathroom guy rang as I'd put boys and mine dinner in the oven asking if he could come earlier but we got there in the end.

Was reasonably productive yesterday, got stuck in and got the housework done and cleared several areas where "stuff" had just been put/flung/dumped - looks much better now but still a way to go. Did continue with the washing/drying although got no ironing done, so will get that done today, also want to change beds etc too. Should have an on-line delivery this afternoon but that could depend on the weather so hoping they are able to deliver before the dumping of snow.

Hello everyone, I've been off here for a couple of weeks, but back today!
We haven't had any snow yet this morning, but the snow we had on tuesday is still here! I'm really not looking forward to the journey home from work tonight if we do get snow.
I had to do a speed awareness course yesterday...:o naughty I know, but if anyone does have the opportunity to do one instead of taking 3 points, I would highly recommend it. It does cost more than the fine, but I actually really enjoyed the course. It didn't talk too much about speeding, it was more hazard awareness and general driver refresher.
OS wise, not much today since I am at work until 6 and my BF is at work until 8pm. I plan on getting my breadmaker out tomorrow and enjoying some yummy homemade bread over the weekend! The washing basket is building up, but I'll do that tomorrow. With there only being the two of us, I wait until the weekend and do all of our washing on one day. I blast through 3 loads (darks, whites and socks/underwear) so the washing machine and tumble drier are only on one day per week. We would hang them outside since our garden is south facing, but next door have a tendency to throw their cigarette butts over our fence, and their little boy likes to kick his muddy footballs over too...:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: Plus I cant wear anything that contains wool, so I always make sure my cardigans and jumpers are 100% acrylic and I love how soft they go in the dryer!
I've been asked to crochet 2 baby blankets for my cousin - her twin sons are both becoming dads to baby girls this year (about 6 weeks apart!) so I need to order the yarn for that tonight. Again, they have asked for 100% acrylic so they can just wash and tumble dry repeatedly.

I should go and get ready for work now! I really wont mind if it snows tomorrow, I just want to be able to get home from work today!

Bitter here but still no snow :j meant to come this afternoon though

Luckily dont have to go out till later so apart from a couple of calls I need to make I shall concentrate on housework - keeps me warm :rotfl:.

Nothing much else to report, nothing exciting happening but then nothing bad either :rotfl:

well we've got plenty of snow here in Cardiff, DDs school is closed and I have plenty of food and drinks to last us at least a week. last night I helped my friend who lives inAbergavenny to get ready for the snow, by taking her shopping and helping her stock up with wood and coal.

Welcome back Candy girl, where have you been, what's been happening, we need more info :rotfl:

No snow here yet but it is forecast, not as bad as some areas. I'm hoping its not too bad in Manchester as mum and dad come home from Australia on Tuesday morning.
Today out with dh this morning, the back for a quick tidy round. My db and dsil are coming down tonight for a Chinese takeaway, haven't seen them since I came back from my hols so that will be nice. Will be very careful not to over order as we always do and I hate throwing it away, never fancy takeaway the day after.
Just waiting for my first job from the agency. Can't wait to get earning so I can put my income on the spreadsheet and start throwing money at the debt. Sad I know but just want to be in the black again. It's probably going to take a couple of years at least but I'm ready for the challenge.
