Hi all, It looks like I can kiss goodby to my PC, I have just found out they are the same people that were on BBC, WATCH DOG, ROGUE TRADERS .

I phoned the police and was told to call Trading Standards.
Trading Standards told me to call CAB.
[ both of these I had already done]

I rang CAB again and when I told them that they were the same people as on Rogue Traders, Then they took notice and took all the details and said they are sending it across to Trading Standards and they WILL deal with it and phone me for more details, I don't know what they can do about it so I will have to
    wait and see.

Do you know any sites that I can post and warn other people about them, can I get Yell and Google to take the adds down.

My son and friends wants to pay them a visit, but I don't want them to get involved.

    fingers crossed Drinda.

Frankly to get the computer back (and all of it's sensitive details) I'd just suck it up, pay the amount they request, remove the card, price it up, and take the people to court.

It sucks yes, to lose that amount of money, but I'd be suspicious of what information of mine they had ready access to.

If you have not already done so:
    • Change all log in details of all accounts you have of everywhere you have registered (especially if you save your passwords on your computer)
    • Change your internet/phone banking details if you had anything relating to them on your computer. Log in numbers, passwords, or saved statements/files.
    • Change your email password and update the details needed to reset password on email.
    • If you ebay, or paypal, change those too.
    Do it now.
At the very minimum the above should be done.

Frankly I'm disappointed in all of the !!!!!ing replies over what is what and on wards that no one has even considered to tell you do this first off.

    By who?

If it were the police then they should have taken details and given you a crime number.

It's either a crime or a trading standards matter. If it's crime the police should take the lead.

    @ Hackman &Sgt pepper

The op was told it's theft because it is theft, why you'd be interested is beyond me you guys seem more interested in a pi$$ing contest than actually helping the op.
