sorry didn't realise i was on the wrong thread. No need to be abrupt.

Seemed a civil and helpful response to me. To be fair, a thread headed Lufthansa isn't the obvious place to post a Thomson question. If we all post randomly, the whole board becomes unusable and that's not in anybody's interests.
  • Just received £1,002 credited to my account from Lufthansa for a January 2014 delay from USA to London Heathrow!!!!
The funny thing is that I only asked for €250 compensation each for my child and I and was credited £1,002 (€1200)
They originally rejected my claim but I persisted and got a fabulous result. Thank you for all sharing your experiences.

Compensation is based on distance. For that distance you are due €600 each if over 4 hour delay
€250 would apply for a flight under 1,500km delayed over 3 hours

Hi, i am hoping that someone may be able to help me or tell me im on a loosing path.

We booked flights from Birmingham Uk to Johannesburg in October 2013 directly with Lufthansa, the flight was going via Frankfurt. We were attending a family wedding on the 6th April 2014.
Flight was departing 3rd April 2014 for my wife and 2 kids.
On Friday 28 March we find out on BBC website that Lufthansa going on strike, we called them and they said all is good, your flights are not affected.
On Monday 31st march we get a SMA message to say our flights are cancelled please call to cancel or rearrange. We called and after after 2 hours waiting were given an alternative date of 5th April. An email followed with new flight details and eticket details.
On Tuesday 1st April my wife went online to check baggage allowances and to see if she could check seating, she was horrified as it showed no flights. After trying to call Lufthansa from 20:30 pm we finally got through at 12:06AM! The customer services agent confirmed that they were not booked on this flight and the next available flight was on the 10th April- After the wedding. Lufthansa had no response to the previous eticket
Due to it being a very special occasion my wife had no option but to cancel the outgoing flight and book a 1 way ticket from BHX to JNB via Emirates costing considerably more on the 2nd April, not to mentions the costs in rebooking car parking and hotels.
We are now back but are now looking at our options to reclaim the cost of booking alternative flights as we are now out of pocket by approx. £1,000.
We have posted an online form with Lufthansa and submitted the eticket which was issued but no response.
Any help appreciated in which way to peruse our claim.
    Thanks
  • I was travelling from Basel to Manchester via Munich on Lufthansa on 6th June, 2014. The flight at 0615 was cancelled just before boarding due to a technical problem. We were rebooked on the lufthansa flight via Frankfurt at 0820 and boarded and taxied out for takeoff only to return to the stand with another technical problem (this time with the nosewheel steering) and the flight was cancelled.
I was finally booked on the 1320 to Munich and arrived home more than 3 hours after the original flight was due to land so I claimed €250 compensation via the Lufthansa feedback process and, apart from an acknowledgement, never heard a thing until this morning when they rang to say that, as a gesture of goodwill(!), they would be paying me €250 compensation plus 38CHF for the exec lounge that I used whilst waiting for the flight.

All thanks to following Martin's guidelines.

Hi - can someone help me please? i posted this on another board originally as I didn't realise there was a dedicated Lufthansa one. Last December I flew Manchester to Frankfurt where I should have boarded a connecting flight to Hannover, we were delayed in Manchester because a passenger had checked in then failed to show up, because of that delay I missed the connection into Hannover & was rebooked onto the later flight meaning I was delayed at Frankfurt for around 4 1/2 Hours - can I claim anything? They didn't offer me any refreshments or food or lounge access, I just had to wander aimlessly round for hours :( -

the difficulty may be that they could argue that the reason for the delay was outside of their control as it was due to another passenger and I assume they had to offload bags etc
You should have a look at the FAQs and send the template letter and see what response you get
You should also, whether they argue not their fault or not be entitled to reimbursement of refreshments etc you purchased during the wait
  • In case if anyone was curious, AirHelp are now taking my case to court. This will be a landmark victory, I tell you...lol.

  • My daughter flew from Phoenix to Heathrow via Chicago last week. She was delayed by five hours in Chicago. The flight was a Lufthansa one ,but operated by United. The delay was due to maintenance .Will I be able to claim .I am unclear how booking with one and flying with another airline works, in view of compensation claims. Many thanks for any clarity n this.
