Samsung S3 or HTC One X+

Options
I don't know which to go for. I can get them for the same price.

I guess what might sway it for me is the camera. I want to be able to take decent photos at gigs. It's usually dark with weird lighting. Does anyone know from experience if either phones are good at this?

And in general does anyone have any good or bad things to say about either phone?

  • In general, a phone camera isn't really the right thing for gig photography. It doesn't matter how many megapixels it has - they have tiny sensors and cheap lenses.

I took delivery of my S3 last week.. I previously had a Desire HD and it's blown me away.

I won't have another HTC after they messed around with the upgrades of Android with the DHD.
  • The S3 would be ok however you would probably want a more professional camera (budget SLR with flash?)
  • Apparently the Lumia 920 is the best for low light photography. You probably still won't get amazing gig photos but it's likely to be better than the rest.

Friend of mine had to exchange her HTC one x four times in a months, awful experience. Swapped it for an S3 and has had no problems.

Obviously you will get dodgy phones of any make and model but 4 in one month says stay away to me.

  • I'm not after AMAZING ones I just want to know which out of these phones is best as I often end up with blurry snaps.

Both phones should take half decent ones as they feature backside illuminated sensors. I'm not interested in the Lumia. I'm only interested in the two phones mentioned due to other aspects. This is just a tie breaker really.

(for comparison, I'm used to this sort of quality! http://sphotos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/402085_10151223097145254_631504657_n.jpg )

The Samsung has a memory card slot so you can add extra storage if that's important to you. The HTC doesn't.

  • I have a S3 and it has to be one of the best phones I have ever used, well worth it

You'd be lucky to do that with a camera phone - the limitation on that would be the power of the flashgun.. they use rubbish LED ones.

So - they'd both be equally rubbish!
  • Pick the Galaxy S III over the HTC One X, No contest.

SIII has a removable battery and an external SD slot, and the SIM doesn’t need a tray setup like the One X.

S III is amazing you will love it.

  • Hey Chickabiddybex
Everyone here is suggesting you to go for SIII but I will refer you for HTC One X+.
I was using HTC Wildfire long time back (it is still in working condition) and currently carries an iPhone 4S and HTC Desire V; never had issue with any of my HTC phones, while few friends of mine using other Android phones (including phones from Samsung and Motorola manufacturers) faced issues with hardware crash as well as battery backup.
