Telling her to calm down is hardly helpful , she seems perfectly calm to me. She isn't blaming anyone, she just wants the truth. From what has been said I would have concerns also."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -
I think some people are missing the point. The reason why I am taken it further is the fact that how they have said it happened don't correspond to his injuries he has got. I just want the full truth and I believe that they are hiding something from me. I still have not recieved the full report yet not to sure how long it all takes.
Thankyou for all your advice0 -
Hi Victoriak,
I understand your concerns and as a pre-school manager think you have every right to question the nursery.
An incident and accident form should have been completed on the day of the accident and you should have been given copies. Even if the nursery were unsure of what had happened then this is what should have been in the report as if no one saw what happened no amount of investigating is going to tell them.
If you are unhappy with the nursery and feel they are misleading you you should issue a formal complaint in line with their complaints policy that you should have a copy of. If you are concerned that the nursery is covering something up this may be putting other children at risk and I would report straight to OFSTED.
Oftsed will arrange a visit and investigate fully and if there is nothing to cause concern will close the case. but if there is a cause for concern they will support the nursery to put things right and prevent other children from being at risk.
That being said children do have accidents all the time and sometimes we cannot account for how they have happened. Children can be hurt on obscure things that you would just not think about.
As a mother myself though if I felt I was being misled I would trust my instincts!0 -
I had a similar thing happen years ago with my son at a holiday club. He had fallen off a climbing frame and I only knew bcos he told me after crying so much in pain with his arm. No accident reports were completed and they denied it happening. Took him to A & E and he had actually broke his arm.
Asked to see nursery manager and she told me that I had put cast on arm as a pretence when nothing was wrong! I told her doctors dont waste their time putting casts on children who dont need them. I later found out from a member of staff who did see him fall that they were severely understaffed that day and no-one had time to do the accident book.
I relayed this to the manager and because of her accusing tone I was lying I threatened legal action. Still no apology...so I threatened the nursery chain they were attached to...finally an apology and an offer of £1000....i told them after all the stress they had put us thorugh they could stick it, that I was going to the papers and court. Suddenly I was offered £5000 and a bigger apology, which i accepted and is now in trust for my son.
If they had apologised at first then I would have just accepted it was an accident but the fact they tried to accuse me of making up was ludicrous and so I did make them pay.
Hope you get this matter sorted, some nurseries are way too lax on looking after children.0 -
We're there any of the metal only coat hangers around because the twisted bit at the base of the hook can be really sharp and would easily pierce an ear if fell onto0

Missed the point completely.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
There was nothing around apparently only a car mat which was soft and a plastic plate which was all smooth. And the box was all smooth and no hard bits or anything. His injuries suggest that something has gone through his ear so there must of been something else in the box or he was holding something that he shouldn't of been holding.
I feel they are covering him something that will get them in trouble. I am not doing this for money as I plan not to go down that route I just want the truth.
My doctor has told me to inform social services and they are investigating the case against them. I am awaiting the report to see if ofsted has been informed if not then I will contact them directly0 -
Could the pin sort of thing that goes through a hinge from the box have done it?
I can't really think of much else unless they were lying, or overlooked something.0 -

My son is only 2 and half years old so can't really say what happened. The two carer's had there back turned. 1 was doing snack and the other one did go over to my son and asked my son to get down and he said no so she turned her back and aparantly as she was walking away she heard the scream and turned round and he was in the box
If your son was standing on the toy box (that's how I read that) his ear may have been at the same height as carers head. Does she wear any jewellery that could of caused it?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
