I love the picture of the coots. Theres a boating lake across the road from me which has loads of ducks and coots, and two nesting swans. The eggs havent hatched yet, but shouldnt be too long now. How do you get put a photo into a post? I would love to share a photo from a couple of years ago.
LG
Hi Ladygrim,
Your lake sounds fantastic, I'd love to see you photo.
We are not meant to put photos directly into the thread anymore but can use links to photo sites instead. You need to have something like that anyway as you cannot load photos directly into a post from your own computer.
Try Flickr or Photobucket to create an account if you do not already have something like this. Follow the upload instructions to copy the photo from your computer onto the host site. It is just a few mouse clicks, very straightforward, if sometimes a little slow.
Make the album you create (single photo or more than one) public then with the picture on the screen in front of you, highlight the address bar for the photo and copy it. Post on MSE in another window and write a word as a guide, "Here" or "Picture" or whatever you like, highlight the word, click on the thing that looks like a globe wearing slipped sunglasses in the formatting tools just above the text box and it opens a little box, delete the http:// in the URL box and paste your link in instead, click OK
And thats it! you can test it by clicking on prieview post, the link should work from the preview screen.
Sra's guide is a lot more informative than this, and better explained.
Can't wait to see you photo.
Ooooh Ivyleaf I missed that! Off to see if it is in the BBC online archive thing
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead

Afternoon all,
Not done much this morning, put some drying on and emptied DW. Went round the shops and bought some M & S t-shirts and OH treated me to lunch.
Not been feeling great with problems at work but hey ho.

Hi everyone, just having a pleasant half hour eating my ham sarnie and catching up on everyone's news.
Been out for a couple of hours trying to find some good quality ceiling fans. Seen lots of pics on the internet, but this is something I need to see in real life to evaluate the finish and the quality.
Before that, two lots of washing done and on the line, DW emptied and refilled, local election leaflets delivered in my allocated two roads, and had the first chap to quote for a fence to block out next door. We'll get the quote in a few days, but the bad news (whatever the cost) is that he can't do it until June. I know June is only 4 weeks away, but that's four more weekends of next door's barbeques, music, and inconsiderate behaviour. (One of their visitors blocked our drive AGAIN yesterday, and weren't too bothered about coming to unblock it so we could get our car in)
DH bought a new stereo for his car, one that can use a USB drive and SD cards. All our music is digitised, but neither of us owns an Ipod or anything. Never needed one, as we have some wonderful system for playing music - or the radio - anywhere in the house.
Too hot to do much else, don't even have the energy to go and sit in the garden never mind do any hoeing or weeding.
<hugs> to Harry and Jazmine, and anyone else feeling in need of one.
Have a lovely day

Thankyou RacyRed for showing me how to place a link on MSE to some photos.
I took all of these photos myself, and I like to print them out and give them as presents in picture frames. Makes it a more personal gift.
This is a photo of mother swan keeping an eye on her two day old cygnets as they swim across the boating lake here in Perranporth.
Here is a photo of Mother swan leading her week old cygnets to a tasty grass verge next to the boating lake.
And this photo shows mum and dad escorting the cygnets back from the beach, up the stream, back to the boating lake.
I only wish I had a copy of them walking up the middle of the road and causing a long traffic jam! Swans dont walk very fast, and no amount of tooting car horns will convince them to move any faster!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

This is Perranporth Beach, and this is the Millennium Sundial.
Not a bad place to live, even if I do say so myself.

Hi All,
Well Im having one of those nice weekends that doesn't happen very often. The type when you have nothing planned, (except church tomorrow)
I decided to sort out dd's wardrobes, sorted through their stuff from last summer, passed things down from dd1 to dd2 and made a pile of charity shop and ebay items, so that is all done now. (I did my own wardrobe last weekend, and Mr Pea can do his own!)
Have a couple of loads of washing blowing merrily in the breeze, ready for a lazy afternoon of ironing tomorrow and will be tackling tea in a minute (sausage casserole)
Had quite forgotten that there is a civil service strike on Tuesday, so have an unexpected day off. I have decided to do some ebaying as I now have three big plastic storage boxes full to be emptied, and put the proceeds towards dd1's new school uniform fund for when she moves up to secondary school in September. (A very smart uniform it is too, Im glad she has to wear a tie, its the only school in the area that still has a tie, even the grammar schools have dropped ties for girls) I was one of those strange teenagers that liked wearing a tie, back in my own schooldays, I think I read too many Mallory Towers etc type books.
Mr Pea has been productive too today, he has planted out my sweet peas and put up a trellis behind them, and he has bought some sturdy plastic netting and made a sort of fence around the peas and the sweet peas to stop the rabbit from eating them like she did last year. (Even the rabbit is doing something useful, she is hopping around the lawn eating any dandelions she comes across!) Due to the couple of days of rain we had last week, everything in the garden has gone a bit mad, the potatoes are doing well, the srawberries have perked up, its just the carrots now that are looking a bit disappointing.
Id better go and sort the tea before everyone starts complaining, Im trialling (sp?) a tin of campbells condensed soup (tomato I think) as the sauce for my casserole, with new potatoes, carrots, runner beans and steamed cabbage. Apple pie, (not hm, from the farm shop) for pud.
Have a nice evening everyone.0 -

Good Evening
Managed to get the weekly shopping done this afternoon, rather than doing it Sun morning!
Ive ironed all the bedding, ready to change over either later or tomorrow.
Did some more washing, and put another load out on the line, then some idiot decided to have a fire in their garden at 5.30pm, the smoke was horrendous, and the crap/ash coming from it was unreal. I got my washing in, then nipped to DLB's house and got her's in (as she's out) left a note on her door to say where it is!
OH out cutting the grass.
Its nice & quiet without the kids. They're never away long enough for me too miss them!
Ive just put some potato's in the oven, for dinner, to go with the chicken salad.
Catch you later
Love Emma xxx
ladygrim love the photo's, how cute are the babies all lined up! aahhhhhhhHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
I am sure dlb will appreciate that Emma, we get people doing that round here, they don't seem to give a monkeys, I was out last time and ended up buying DS2 another quilt as it was on the line and couldn't get the smell out!
Oh by the way I think I am rubbing off too much on the kids, they made a big tower out of stuff and put a bright yellow thing on the top. I asked what it was 'A solar panel' for the house :rotfl: then asked what the bag was for, 'recycling Mam' :rotfl:One day I might be more organised...........
