OS DAILY SATURDAY 28th APRIL

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Friday 27 April 2007. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Hi Amie, hello everyone who follows
LOL Amie, you can't keep me away for too long! I was just having a few days of not doing too much on the computer - no particular reason other than that for being AWOL. I hope you managed to get back to sleep Amie. BTW I can't quite believe you're 44, you come across as a lot more youthful in your posts, I would have guessed you were in your 20s.
Today is the day when the bloke from the furniture shop will come and FINALLY provide the last remaining piece for my new bed - it has only been a month since I bought it! The central support plank thingy they sent was about two inches too short, thus leaving the middle of the slats totally unsupported. As I'm not what you'd call a lightweight I haven't dared sleep on the bed yet.
The library has provided me with a copy of "Enough to make a cat laugh" by Deric Longden and I'm really enjoying it so far. Thanks to Catznine for recommending this book - I will definitely be pestering the library to get in this author's other publications.
I haven't read yesterday's post, so big apologies if I have missed anything big. I'm interested to hear about everyone's news, including of course Racy's flock of coots, so am off now for a skim.
Have a fabulous Saturday and enjoy the sunshine.

Morning, AMIE - now that IS early!  I think we've had about the same amount of sleep! I was up until 12.30 a.m. sorting out eBay parcels for posting today. Had a bit of a problem and eBay chat forum didn't help so I did what I should have done at the start - looked on MSE and found the answer! This is now officially the only place to look for advice on anything!:T :T
AMIE - your mum will be fine. She'll have had a brilliant time and have loads to talk about! That's a lovely idea for a birthday present. My dear mum is 77in September but, considering that she had TB as a child, was told she wouldn't live past the age of seven, then they had to extend that to sixteen, then they told her not to have any children, then she got pregnant with me and - during that pregnancy - had half of each lung removed due to the TB, then had three more children, then took in three more when their parents divorced, then fostered at least fourteen more, then nursed my father through terminal illness, then won joint custody of two of other children due to a bitter divorce and looked after them while she still worked in her fifties - well, you worry, of course, but she seems immortal to me! She's a very tiny but very strong and very special lady to our family. But then, that generation of women had to be tough, didn't they? (((hugs))) to your mum for a lovely birthday!
Well, as for television, - my DH said last night 'when was the last time we watched any telly?' and the answer was 'Monday, I think'! I haven't recorded anything, either. I often think we could get rid of it and not even miss it! We quite often go for days without watching anything and I still don't feel as if I have enough time in the day to get everything done!
SNOWY - Amie IS youthful - she's ten years younger than me! That's VERY youthful, believe me! Glad you are OK. Will look out for that author; at the moment I'm hooked on Anne Tyler. She wrote The Accidental Tourist which I really enjoyed and I've managed to pick up another four of hers - in the charity shops, of course! I've just finished the second one. She's a brilliant writer and her characters become a part of your own life. I just hate the bit that says 'The End'!
KYLE - you probably aren't up yet. I've just flicked through the last bit of yesterday's thread that I didn't manage to read last night. I hope both your DH and your LO are feeling much better today. (((hugs))) He should eat, though - perhaps you can ask SamSamPotts for some advice on nutrition that you can pass on to him to make him eat more! Your poor DS1 - I felt upset reading that he feels so alone at school; that's terrible - tell him we will all be thinking about him. He could add a few words of his own on to one of your posts. We'll make sure he gets replies and that may help him feel less alone. In fact, here are some words now: tell him that mioliere thinks he's a special boy and that what he is going through will make him an extra- special grown-up - and (((hugs))) to him, too!:A :A
CSARINA - I might as well make it the whole weekend then! I'll bring my toothbrush and several bottles of Muscadet! See you in about an hour! I'll wait in the car if you're not up when I get there!
MOGGINS - a Happy Birthday for tomorrow (sorry, it's today now - check the time of this post!) The 'more' icons have disappeared - that's always happening to me - wanted to put the Happy Birthday one in for you - will do it in my next post!
Well, I've had about four hours sleep and will be having an afternoon snooze for sure! I have to do my big shop at the Co-op; they're not open yet or I might have been there, now! It won't be a BIG big shop because I bought all my fruit, veg and meat in the local farm shop yesterday. Then we're off into town later to look around the charity shops and have that rare luxury - fish and chips! I'm lucky because my DH enjoys charity shopping as well! He doesn't even mind waiting when I try things on - I think he just enjoys the fact that it's not costing us a fortune!:j :j
I'm tempted to put my multi-chef on and do some baking but I think that will be noisier than your DW, Amie; it's too early to sit in the garden so I think I'll have a cup of coffee and go and do some knitting! See you all later and good morning to anyone who has posted while I've been typing this one!

MOGGINS - here it is (I hope!) HAPPY BIRTHDAY:bdaycake: :bdaycake: !!

Hello again
Just wanted to say to PatentGirl that I hope your kitty Harry is going to be OK. What a shock, poor wee kitty.
Mioliere - isn't it Moggins' birthday on Sunday? Sorry if I'm wrong, but happy birthday Moggins whichever date it is. I'll eat a big piece of cake on your behalf both days to make sure I get the day right, OK?
Happy birthday to MrsMorkenHarket and to TiredMummy for yesterday.

Hi SNOWY - you're right! I made a note late last night to wish Moggins a HB but the note just said 'tomorrow' meaning 'wish it' today! OMG - my brain's tired! Perhaps she can be like the Queen and have two!
I'm meant to be knitting but somehow I can't walk away from the computer!KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

Morning all.
Not been on here for ages (hangs head in shame) but still wondering how you're doing. I'm working 6 days a week at the moment, so don't seem to get a lot of time for chilling out round here.
DH has gone to London so I got up early with him to get some bits done. Just about to jump in shower then hang out washing and hope that the possibility of heavy showers doesn't materialise. DD2 has a dancing exam this afternoon, so after swimming lessons & dancing lessons I told them we'd have lunch in town. Savvy girls that they are have decided McDonalds isn't for them, and they like a juice bar which serves gorgeous sandwiches made there and then. It costs more (so not exactly MoneySaving  ) but a lot nicer and better for you IMO.
Hope everyone has a good day, and happy birthday MOGGINS

Good morning. Small Penguins wtched *Ugly Betty* last night, so I went to bed with a book, and fell asleep soon after 9. I'm now happily awake and enjoying the peace of the morning. I'd usually take a cup of tea down the garden and talk to the hens, so will go and take a look at the small plants instead.
DS's cup final match today - we're all going.
DD's barbeque tonight, so I still have baking to do (need to get some eggs, so couldn't do it yesterday).
Have a great day, Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
Hi PENGUIN - someone else is up! Hope you have a good day! Love to the eggs! Give them a pat from me - not too hard, of course! Good luck to DS in his Cup Final!:j :j
MADMEL - Pleased to meet you. Well done to your girls for having such sophisticated tastes!
I must go and have my shower now - daylight has arrived and I can start putting on some of my kitchen appliances!
See you all later!KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

Morning all
((((((((harry)))))))))) - PatentGirl I know all abouts cats who either disappear or get knocked over and don't tell you straight away. A few years ago , mine lay on the sofa all day and night which was not right, she didn't even come and wake me up in the morning. On trying to move her could tell that she wasn't well. After a night in the vets, and a wire in her jaw and a months stay indoors ( pure hell for us both
), she recovered fine. And thank godness for pet insurance
Well up early even though I have the weekend off. WM on with the first load. Need to pop to the local shop to get some more envelopes to get the rest of my ebay stuff posted today. Have to see my Big bro today as family birthdays are happening in May and I doubt I will be around much to see them so prezzie delivering today. Need to do a food shop and this all has to be complete by 2.30pm so I can watch the cricket world cup
So Aussie Lass if you see this ..... COME ON SRI LANKA !
Well (((((((((hugs))))))) to all, Snowy lovely to see you back was wondering how you were - hope the bed gets sorted today.
Have fun
