Why not try Gemstv.co.uk New things on all day every day . I have got some nice rings off there in the past.

I would love expensive jewellery, but I would be terrified to wear it.

My engagement ring was around £200, and OH recently bought me a ring to celebrate being together 10 years, which was £300, but we got it half price in a sale (Moneysaving or wot!):D

If you can afford it...then go for it - it's your money when it comes down to it - but do you really want to be in debt for it?

Why not save up and then look have a look around the antiques fairs?

Personally I love the fact that you get more value for your money (because the quality of stones is not what it used to be) and in some cases they come with a history of their own. They are a LOT cheaper karat for karat than the shops, my engagement ring is a 1930's ring that I absolutely adore.

But it is only really a pair of earrings and my engagement ring that are expensive, the rest is mainly antique or I have made myself.

    I agree.
I know I'm a guy, but I'm often dissappointed to watch people deliberately putting themselves in financial difficutlies, or committing to pay for a long time into the future something that they'd let the outside world convince them they need.

It seems that your main motivation here is that your friends all have a 'bling' item and you don't. Is that really a good reason to take on a long term loan and reduce your income for the next few years? Think about it that way, would you really take a pay cut for it?

I've got two pieces of Antique jewellery and that's it. i don't wear it either!

My engagement ring is Victorian and my eternity ring is expensive and stunning.

I love Deco Jewellery and often look at it. I don't like modern jewellery. It's more often than not copies that just aren;t up to standard.

If you can't pay cash for it then you can't afford it. It's no good getting into debt for bling, if you need to sell it in a hurry if circumstances change you will only get scrap value for it.
I have my engagement ring (which we bought in South Africa for £75) and I had a borrowed wedding ring, the only valuable jewellery I have is what I have inherited, 2 rings and they are not really worth much.
If my hubby brought me a £90 ring from argos then that's what he can afford, it's the thought that counts not the money.

I was given a beautiful ring for Christmas a couple of years back. It was the most expensive piece of jewelry I've been given. Since I was given it, its gone back to the jewellers twice with various problems and then I managed to lose the diamond  It is now sat in my jewelry box waiting for me to decide if I want to pay out for a new diamond.

I would prefer to spend the money on something for both of us ~ a really nice holiday or something for the home. Jewelry imo isn't worth it!

No item of jewellry I own cost more than £30, but sentimentally they are priceless. I could never justify spending more than £50 on single piece of jewellry.

I have inherited a couple of 'important' pieces of jewellry (into the several thousands of pounds per piece), but my wedding ring is my most treasured possession. We bought them when we were skint (and happy :o:D) 9ct gold, £29, H Samuels, 1995. Then again my watch is worth twice as much as my car - but I didn't buy it, would never part with it and couldn't afford to replace it (the watch that is - not the car :) )

If I had loads of money to spare and I'd helped my conscience a bit by giving some of it to charity :o then I think I might be tempted to buy something really nice.

But until those flying pigs arrive :rotfl:then I wouldn't go into any kind of debt for jewellry. But that's just me and I'm a spoil-sport :D

You cannot live as I have lived an not end up like me.

Oi you lot - please :heart:GIVE BLOOD  - you never know when you and yours might need it back! 67 pints so far.
  • Apart from my engagement and wedding ring (engagment pricey, I wanted a rock and wedding ring about £70) I dont have any other dear jewellery.

I make my own necklaces, bracelets, earings..........cost pennies to make and look pretty good too. OMG, talk about blowing my own trumpet:rotfl:
I also remember the words of my friends, but I would rather have enemies than friends like you :p

:p would like to make it known that ZubeZubes avvy is a DHN, she's not dancing :o
