That's a fine looking aubergine, but what's that garden gnome doing next to it :eek:0 -

Norbert? He's my 'inside garden' gnome. His chums, Bert and Ernie, are outside.0

Outside doing stuffonly in for a cuppa and some toast.
Good news; I found the pot of leeks, bad news; they were hidden by a half full of compost and are dead. Mini leeks it is this year then, I've stuck a pot of seeds in the propagator.
Been watching the shade move around my garden and it's never been this bad. I like trees but wish people would have trees that stayed in their own gardens or thought about other people's gardens (especially as we all have 10' wide ones) and have them pruned.
I've too many plants fighting for the only little bit of south or west facing sun, so I've decided I need to go up but without creating shade for my own garden.
So, I put my thinking cap on and had a great idea; I gave the problem to my husband for him to find a solution:D
Colleen spuds that went in on 7th April are just breaking into flower, seems very quick. Anyone here know if that's normal?
2nd sowing of french beans are up, and I have way too many parsnips seedling, should have been more patient with the original ones. So have been busy with the nail scissors
Break over, potting on time now.0 -
I've pottered around a bit today, but mostly by entertaining my 18 month old niece with picking flowers (she liked the yellow dandelions thank God!) and potting up bedding plants in tubs for the front yard. No actual food-based stuff done, but a lovely day to be outside.0

Sun came out today which made me feel brave enough to plant out my broad beans and french beans. I've also planted out courgettes in a big pot I have. My tomatoes, cucumbers and aubergines still look a bit tiny though even though they are being nurtured in the kitchen windowsill. Beginning to think I'll not grow anything edible this year.:(Books - the original virtual reality.
