Have eaten my first strawberries of the season at the allotment this morning.:D
They were from my few plants I keep in the greenhouse. Hope to increase these for next year as they do extend the season by a couple of weeks.
Annie you have reminded me , I have a goji berry on my plot but it has never fruited.
Think it has been in 4/5 years. Maybe there is hope yet.Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £600 -
Thank you MBE, I think I shall carry on following everyone's posting, as I am not yet in a fit state to plant anything. I don't think I shall be planting until the autumn as I have another op booked for August In the meantime the chickens are doing a great job of clearing the veg plot of weeds, bugs and slugs. The other half netted the strawberries so they wouldn't have those.
I may ask the occasional question but I shall join in as soon as I am up and running. The other half has promised to build me some raised beds in the polytunnel when i get it, as he is very keen for me to start growing again.0 -
Today I pruned a large bush in the front garden which had completely covered one of the windows. Almost near the end I found a bird nest with a single beautiful blue egg in it. I'm gutted, having removed most of the main branches, I dont suppose mummy bird will return0

ok - I'm confused about something, which won't come as a shock to you.
How is it possible for the bbc food website to tell me that mange tout and tomatoes are in season, when my tallest mt plant is 3 inches and my tallest tom plant barely visible?0 -
Are they removing the rotted fence posts? NO, are they removing the rotted arris rails? NO, are they now cutting down to fit cheap fence panels to attach to said rotted posts and rails? YES!
8' of cheap fence panel nailed onto rotted wood with no support in the middle. It'll be lucky to last 1 winter and is no help with providing support for my toms and squashes. Thinking on it the squashes might bring it down.
Oh Annie.
I think I'd be tempted to wait until it was dark and give it a push.
"Oh dear, that didn't last very long, did it?" :whistle:If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

You could maybe sow some sprouts or purple sprouting broccoli, and put it in place after your op? They'll be ok in a pot for quite a while. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

They are in season! Just not in the UK.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

Can't do much but leave it I guess. Could you poke some of the prunings back in around it to provide a bit of cover? If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Sorry for my lack of posting but I've been a bit busy.
So this is £129.99:
This:
cost me £2.30. Even if you count the screws and sundries I already had, still less than a fiver. :money:
Well pleased because my carpentry skills are woeful. :jIf you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

This year's been one of the 5 coldest since 1910 and most plants are around 4 weeks behind where they should be, you can probably add another couple of week due to the Pennines area being a part of the coldest growing zone in the UK, we're on the other side of Pennines from you and it's blummin cold here too!!! my tomato plants are only a few inches tall as well
Mr be, excellent trough :T well done."We could say the government spends like drunken sailors, but that would be unfair to drunken sailors, because the sailors are spending their own money."
