8' of cheap fence panel nailed onto rotted wood with no support in the middle. It'll be lucky to last 1 winter and is no help with providing support for my toms and squashes.
That sounds like a very poor excuse for a fence to me. If they weren't intending to do a proper job, why didn't they just let you do it yourselves? I think you said that you offered more than once? Sorry it's not turned out as well as you had hoped.mrbadexample wrote: »Can't do much but leave it I guess. Could you poke some of the prunings back in around it to provide a bit of cover?
I did poke some back in, what I could anyway that wouldn't just fall off. It's still more exposed than it was though. I can't really tell if it was in use, or from last year - one that hadn't hatched maybe. It was buried quite deep in.mrbadexample wrote: »Sorry for my lack of posting but I've been a bit busy.
cost me £2.30. Even if you count the screws and sundries I already had, still less than a fiver. :money:
Very impressive! :T And looks much sturdier than the shop-bought version, I should think that'll last you years.
We were out this morning walking in the woods but today I've planted out one of the courgettes, four little sunflower plants and sown some "poached eggs"... Three of the four cucumber seeds I started in batch four have come up, so there might be time for those yet. The tomato plants I put in the ground last weekend are still alive... bonus!0 -
I've put 3 of my mange tout plants in the ground as opposed to pots. Watch this space...0

Thinking that the warmer weather has enouraged the first batch of toms to get a move on. Re-potted 9 of them which had sprouted today. 2nd lot are still too small, so I'll leave them another couple of weeks.
Tried to get some of the greenhouse stuff out for a while in the sun today.
Recieved some chillis through the post earlier in the week. Planted them straight away. I'm not keen, but I'm sure I'll find a taker!
When do I fold over the onion leaves to encourage them to bulk up? I only grow onions to keet the carrot fly at bay anyway, so have no idea!
Hoping next weekend will see me eating the first lettuce of the year!
Alas, still no signs of movement on the ginger front though...It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

You fold the tops over when they start to bend naturally by themselves, it's supposed to help them ripen."We could say the government spends like drunken sailors, but that would be unfair to drunken sailors, because the sailors are spending their own money."
