MBE - shall I start my own thread, or can I carry on with my stupid questions and issues on yours? Actually - can you just come and do it all for me?
You are more than welcome to stay here, of course. I think you'll get the help you need. Not necessarily from me, though. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

Or would you prefer not to talk about the rugby, John?0 -

You're not wrong. I didn't think they were out of contention until about 75 minutes had passed. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Back on topic................Little_Vics wrote: »another brambly-type thingy - planted last year. No idea what it is because I didn't get any fruit. Am assuming it also needs cutting back.
What do I do first??
Cross off the list of things to do chopping these back if they could be raspberries, as summer fruiting ones fruit on the previous years canes.
You can move the strawberries, I moved some of mine last week and they're fine. And I never re pot overwintered peppers 'till they are growing again around April time as all that extra soil around their roots could drown them I think. The roots will have lots of wet soggy soil that the plant isn't drawing on yet. Check to see if its wet and maybe replace with dry soil. A quick finger scrape near the base will tell you if it's alive still, you want it to be green.
I've been ill since Saturday so only today been able to collect my new propagator from Wilkinsons. It's a lot bigger than I was expecting as I still think in feet and inchesso didn't notice the CM size. Better to be big than small as I'm sure I'll soon fill it up.
Going to need to move furniture around I think as the prop says don't put near a heat source but near a window, thats going to be difficult.
I'm excited by it though as I've always used the top of the boiler and radiators, or wheat bags and hot water bottles.
Hubby's pleased too as he doesn't have to worry about knocking something off the radiators and getting the riot act read to him
Stopped off at Tesco too and got my mag with 10 pkts of free seeds thanks to John0 -

Ok, so far
Rhubarb has failed to reappear (2 years old)
Bluberries never turned blue last year despite being in correct compost and sheltered spot.
Strawberries, managed to get 3 tasteless offerings. These were Jamie Olivers plants.
Everything else got eaten by slugs.
I had the healthiest tomato plants but just green fruit no sun!
I am going to try again though!0 -

Give it time. It's a bit early yet, depending on variety. My Timperley Early is poking through, but my Stockbridge Arrow is not.
You'd have to work quite hard to kill off rhubarb, so don't worry for at least another month. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

Rhubarb's ready when it's ready. So if you've got sticks of rhubarb, make a pie. :drool:If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0
