I opted for a small grow house last year after I'd resigned myself to using the greenhouse space for a much needed shed. It's not really practical though, only really big enough for starting seed and sheltering cuttings. Another option is a mini poly tunnel, the ones that fit over a bed, I've been considering that this year.
Thanks Molly that is really useful growhouse sounds interesting you will have to post pictures when you get one.
This is my garden in the snow
Veg patch on the left side (south facing) green house would go in the corner on the other side (left of cornifer) where the large shrub is now.
Really like this one:
As we have no conservatory it could have a dual purpose and its £710 but will need a slab base too of course.

Computer troubles now sorted and I am back - took a while to find you though.
What threat is that that MBE has in store for us then Lolly5648 (post 7)?
Fay (post 8) I love the idea of your seed potatoes chatting away to themselves, maybe worried that they will get cold feet if you plant them out too early! But hope they are not being kept too warm or those shoots will put on too much growth before you are able to plant them.
At least those two posts have given me a good laugh on this cold winter day.0 -

Ooo new thread, fab! Read with interest last year and really really tried hard but it was not a great year for our veg so will be trying new system for this year, mainly in pots as unfortunately our ground is rubbish! Good luck to everyone :-)2019, move forward with positivity! I am the opposite of Eyeore :rotfl:0

We have clay with lots of stone almost impossible to dig so I have used raised bed, easier than watering lots of pots. Totally agree about improving the soil compost for pots can get quite expensive and I did find I got a lot less crop than I do in the ground. That could because water/feed or lack of.
Lovely sunny day here, ground still a bit wet Greenthumb has just scarified the lawn looks nice. Still some moss left though but having got rid of my large conifer should help this year.

Well I think the builders put all the rubbish in it then put two inches of top soil on! It's a work in progress so whilst we repair I shall be growing mainly in pots although have got two small raised beds - hurrah!2019, move forward with positivity! I am the opposite of Eyeore :rotfl:0

I had a huge amount of rubble in mine too. Sadly, it won't get any better unless you dig it out.
The difference growing things in the ground compared to pots is quite significant. I've just pulled these parsnips from the ground:
I haven't got a pot that deep.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0
