Can I join in I've been lurking about for a while and you all seem a really nice bunch of folk.

I won't be posting much because although I used to grow lots and lots I had a driving accident and need to have my hips mended before I can seriously get to grips with growing again.

Having said that Mr Z has made me 11 raised beds, I have a greenhouse and a very large fruit cage. I have onions, rhubarb, white, black and red currants growing and loads and loads of strawberries. Unfortunately I walk with crutches so it takes me at least 4 times longer to do anything both in the house as well as outside at the moment, I have to sit down 40 mins out of 60 so doing loads of physical things is out of the question. However, I have let the hens into the veg plot/fruit cage this winter and they seem to have done a really good job of weeding and bug hunting so maybe I'll have a go at some limited things -just the things we eat lots of.

I did think of buying veg plugs this year but the cost against the return may not be worth the effort.

I'm just worried that I'm way too clueless to be responsible for a plot! But, I guess everyone were newbies at some point :D

I'll have a choice of plots tomorrow so been researching to make sure I pick the best one! :)

Rough day at the office. :( Well done John.
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

So I have chosen my allotment, it hasn't been dug over so I have a lot of work to do but it gets the most sun, no weeds to be seen, near the water and car can park by it. The only problem I see with it is the neighbouring plot (won't be rented) has a big tree in it, the allotment manager doesn't think roots will be a problem where I am so I'm hoping it'll be ok.

Oh dear, now to figure it all out...

At the moment picture a 5 rod allotment (10 would have been way too big) covered in grass :D
