I suspect the £400 a month was the sum total of the monthly state pension.
Where does the £300 per week come from if nana was only in receipt of state pension? Did she have a private pension as well?

I am seriously confused here, :rotfl:

I thought Carol stated the care home cost was £400 per month, when that seems pretty cheap to me.
  • we have all the statements , anne took the money every week to the penny! paid £400 PER MONTH to care home and rest has been stolen which is what she admits to, but who is legaly owed that money?! , my nana never had any other bills so anything after the 400 per month and say 10 pound a week for hairdressing etc is spare money that should have stayed in bank x
  • im confused tooo!!! haha
think il just leave it for now , my head hurts....
thanks all for the help will get back in touch when we know more, first call will be to social services on monday .
    thanks again!!

Hypothetical: mum moves into care home, daughter manages mum's financial affairs, either mum or daughter fail to declare all mum's income to Social Services. Social Services funds shortfall in weekly fee, discovers mum or daughter have committed benefit fraud and takes appropriate action. Benefit fraud carries a prison sentence.

Hi carol sounds like DLA was still been claimed when it shouldn't of been, so social services would not of known about this money the question then would be who's going to pay it back, Nana has gone so they(dwp) turn to the family as a whole to recoup the overpayment, be careful how much you stir up here:(
