Hi jillmcd
This wasn't vs73 on the 4th of April 2012 is it? I've got the same story as you where I have heard nothing yet since December but I sent a letter before action to them yesterday as if it's the same flight I think we have a fair claim as technically our plane wasn't delayed due to weather etc it was the inbound flight that had the problems therefore If they reject mine I personally will be putting a claim in after the 14 days notice expires via mcol....
You beat me to it! I was just about to point that out.
You both have valid claims. Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0 -
Any thoughts please. I have read the sticky but not sure it applies.
I was due to leave Mco to LGW on jan 29. Flight was cancelled until the following evening. According to Virgin it was because a flight couldn't take off from Manchester that day due to snow.
They had a flight from MCO to Manchester leave the same night as I was due but choose to cancel the LGW one.
My question is can I claim because although bad weather is claimed the airport I was leaving from and arriving at wasn't closed due to bad weather.
Thanks0 -

DONT GIVE UP
Today I received £446.33 x 3
I was refused compensation for this flight last year, after reading about trying again I did just that, I did use the template letter from this thread quoting the EU261/2010 regulation. I'm so glad I didn't give up.
Keep going Never just "give up " :T0 -
Hi, this is a long shot. June 2010 from Orlando to Manchester. We were waiting to board when one of the loading vehicles damaged the plane so that the luggage hold could not be shut. They had to fly both the part and mechanic in to fix it. Initially we were given food vouchers and eventually taken to a hotel for the night. However our luggage was not returned to us until we landed in Manchester, so many people had no change of clothes. We were delayed 24 hours. Will they simply class this as technical problems beyond their control?
Many thanks.
DO NOT GIVE UP !!!!!!!
Virgin used this same excuse for my flight Man to Orlando !!!
20th June 2010
I was refused compensation but decided to write one more time, so glad I did.
Today I received £466.33 x 3 !!!!
I did use the template letter quoting the EU261/2004 regulations, you must keep going, you lost a lot of hours !!!
Good Luck :T0 -

No it was VS77 to Barbados on 31 January 2010, but it seems like similar circumstances.0 -

Great news. :T0 -
I'm pleased to say that Virgin paid up just before Xmas 2014 for a dreadful night in JFK at the end of 2012 (£475). I won't be flying with them again. Ever.
Many thanks to MSE for making me aware of this scheme.0 -
Hi All,
Me and my girlfriend recently visited New York. We bought the Virgin Atlantic flight through ebookers.com and were due to fly out Tuesday 27th of January however our connecting flight in Atlanta was cancelled so I contacted Virgin and after numerous attempts someone finally arranged a new flight and instead of going Manchester to Atlanta and then Atlanta to Newark we flew Manchester to Heathrow and and Heathrow to Newark on the Wednesday.
With the cancelled flight being the one in the states I was unsure if we would qualify for any type of compensation despite losing a nights holiday (hotel also wouldn't refund the night we could not make)
Thanks
