Note the contradictory statements in the letter:
In view of the above, and in the absence of any concrete confirmation of a further appeal, we have decided, as a gesture of goodwill,
then
This is the amount as claimed in accordance with Regulation 261/2014 and includes your court costs. It covers claims for yourself and xxxx .
It is not a goodwill paymnt, it is admitting liabilty under Reg261/2004 and having to pay compensatin that is lawfully owed to the claimant. If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Hi Guys and Gals.
The flight home from our wedding in Las Vegas was troubled.
Bag drop off at Venetian Hotel at 10:00 and was told flight was on time. Got to airport @ 12:00 ( I think the flight was about 15:00 to find out there was going to be a 6 hour delay.
We were given vouchers for food and drink and the wait started, I think it was about 21:00 when we got away and to add to the drama we had a generator fault and had to take off with all the lights off which was a bit scarey.
My problem is I have no details of flight numbers or exact timings.
The flight was from Las Vegas to Gatwick on the 28th April 2011 with Virgin Atlantic. The whole holiday was booked through Virgin.
Can anybody help, or point me in the right direction.
Many Thanks

Hi, as the title says. In Oct 2011 my 70yr old disabled father was left in the allocated waiting area to be wheeled to the plane for a few hours. Even after many requests to the desk he was told to sit & he would be collected. On the 4th request he was told that the flight had left. He was put up in a hotel until the next day & put on the next flight home.
My problem is.- The family were not informed he was still in uk therefore he was left alone in a hotel room by himself.
- We couldn't locate him when we heard he was not home and Gatwick would not give us any info when we called.
- He couldn't call us because all of his info and phones were in his bags which they did not give him but they stated they had taken off the flight.
- The transport that arrived at the airport in the Caribbean charged us an exorbitant amount because they waited for hours for him as there was no delay to plane so it was assumed he was on it.
- He also had to pay another exorbitant amount the next day to get home as he had to take an airport taxi for the 2hr journey home from the airport.
I sent them a letter to another department to make a claim because he had an overnight delay without any fault of his own but to date they have not responded. This was in 2012.
Do I not have a claim or should I bring it to the CAA? Also cant find the flight number which was November 10th 2011
Thanks for any response0 -

The flight was not delayed or cancelled so I'm not sure how you would claim, what for and against whom. Looks like an issue with a foreign airport so I wouldn't get your hopes up. Not sure how CAA could help - even if they were any good.

Hi all,
My husband and i were on a flight back to Gatwick from Nassau in Jan 2007 which was delayed 7 and a half hours. The carrier, Virgin Atlantic were very good and put us all in an hotel for the day and fed and watered us, so there was no hardship there. We were offered 25% off a new booking in the future, which we have never taken up.
I was not aware of this compensations ruling and have this morning put in a claim to virgin for this delay. Luckily because of the offer they had made i had kept all the documentation from our flight and was able to provide everything asked for on the form.
After reading further, however, it would seem as though i don't have a 'cat in hell's chance' after all because of the time since the flight (2007)
What I was wondering was, if anyone else has been successful with a claim that was longer than 6 years since the date of travel? and if so what strategies they used? it may be helpful.
Thanks in advance0 -

Should be on Virgin thread but at least you have read through various relevant posts. I believe you have less chance than a 'cat in hell's chance'.0 -
Many thanks for your reply David.
Where are the FAQ'S? Sorry sounds like Homer Simpson's "which one is the anykey"0
