  • Milan (MXP) to Edinburgh (EDI) is less than 1500km so €250 per passenger is correct.

According to google maps the distance between the two airports is 1940km?

It would appear the flying distance is about 1420km

You have to use the great circle method for distances.
If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Yes - but only if you're driving!

As the crow flies, it's 1426km.

Any good advice on how best to escalate a complaint to easyjet?

They cancelled my flight from Belfast to Newcastle on 10/7/17, on the day of the flight. I claimed a refund of the flights and completed a EU compensation claim, as well as an expenses claim (although not at the same time).

I received a payment confirmation from them saying my flights were being refunded and that they were paying compensation.

I have received the compensation amount into my account, but still have not had the flights refunded, even though their web video shows this should happen in 3 days.

The expenses claim was acknowledged saying it would be dealt with in 10-14 days. This time has now passed and I completed an online complaint form, requesting the flight refund, with interest for the delay, as well as asking for a response to the expenses claim.

To date I have had no response to this complaint.

How best could I progress the matter?
    Thanks
    Gordon

Send them a notice before action.
  • Hi,
was recently on flight from Bristol that couldn't land in Funchal. Was diverted to Lisbon where we were told that flight was officially cancelled and we could either get off in Lisbon or return to Bristol where the plane was needed for another flight.
We got given print out by Captain from EJ HQ that aid we could claim for reasonable expenses including ongoing flights.
We booked next available flight out to Funchal but had to spend 2 nights in Lisbon. Most of the passengers got off the plane and so there were lots of people trying to book onwards.
On return home EJ said I could get a voucher for the cancelled trip by email. On the booking page where it says flight is cancelled, there is an option to either have them book flights onwards or get a refund (couldn't get access to internet at the airport, so this wasn't much help). Clicking on the refund button it says"error occurred, please conatct us if this happens again.
Have claimed expenses back, written 3 emails to customer service.and tried their "chat" which always says someone else is available.
As the voucher is no good to me, I have paid £1000 for a flight that was cancelled, plus an additonal £1100 in hotel and flights from Lisbon: what are my options now?
    Thanks for help.

    Hi Shirepasty1,

You're due a full duty of care from EJ. Thats hotel, food, drink, transport to and from hotel, phone calls etc. Plus your onward flight costs.

If EJ refuse to pay all of this immediately you have an option to either take them to court via MCOL or refer your case to CEDR who are the ADR provider for EJ.

Personally I would take the CEDR route as your case is pretty clear cut imo.

Google and then download 'Vaubans Guide' for lots info.

    Good luck.
Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.
