I think I'll inform them that at the time of booking I was living in Britain at my mother's address!
This should make it irreverent where I am living now and also the fact that the flight was booked from a German IP ???????

    What do you think?
I really don't see why any German law should be implied at all - the "contract of travel" was between me as a European citizen and a European firm ( in this case British - or Swiss, where the flight was starting from, as the case maybe!)
It was not so long ago that European law was above the law of the land you live in ( when that land is part of Europe) so I really think that the 3 years is a cop out - the 6 years should apply to all citizens of the EU if it is now recognized as European law.

    Your opinions please.

When a flight is delayed (over 2 hours) and the airline has a duty to provide food and drink, what is the the requirement?
Can they just palm you off with a voucher for a few quid / euros? Should the voucher entitle you to a basic meal and a hot or cold drink? What is the minimum level of care?
Obviously not expecting a three course meal with a pint of beer or a glass of wine, but equally I wouldn't be happy with a bag of crisps, a chocolate bar and a bottle of water (if there were sufficient funds to cover this).
    Any experiences or views?
No payments from financial products from cash back sites? Put in a complaint direct and if they don't resolve your issue, head straight to the financial ombudsman - it costs the company £550 in referral fees, win or lose.

B_M - not defined but most airlines seem to give a £5/7€ voucher which is never enough (at any airport) to get anything half decent.
  • Good morning all,
two days ago I was due to fly home from Bilbao airport to London Stansted at 10:40pm. My flight was cancelled and consequently we were driven six hours to Madrid, put up in a hotel for a few hours and then driven back to Madrid to board a flight. the flight was delayed in excess of 16 hours. I have reaxd on the website that we can claim 250 euros each for a delay in excess of 3 hours, however, can we make a largher claim for a flight delay of this scale? bearing in mind that none of us got a wink of sleep for the best part of a day. in addition, no toilet was provided on a 6 hour coach, leading to people having to urinate into bottles during the journey.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

    regards,

    Tom

    Tom,

They obviously failed in their duty of care, none stop for 6 hours is unacceptable, and you should complain about this to EJ in the first instant. I would also complain to the CAA about the way your delay was handled, this way it will be registered and recorded.

You are due EU261 compensation so have a good read of Vaubans great guide and follow the advice to make a claim therein. Unfortunately you will find that other costs are not claimable under 261.

    Good luck.
Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.

Thanks and that would be an unreasonable amount (IMHO). I'm assuming you'd have to buy your own food and drink, use a voucher as part payment and then try and claim the rest back.
This needs to be clarified, probably by EU law.

    Hi there
Have put in my compensation email (using this websites generic compensation letter) and letter to easyjet for 8hour flight delay. Does any one have any advice from personnel experience on what I should expect or do. I have received my confirmation that they have an email from me and will deal with it within 7 to 10 days. My plan was to email saying I would pass my claim over to one of the online flight compensation firms if I had no contact of them. Mine seems a straight forward case as they had to replace the plane due to a technical fault on the flight from Naples to Liverpool . Any help would be appreciated.
    Regards
    Phill

    Good Morning Vauban.
Thank you for your help in this matter.
Do you happen to have an email address ( as the email sent to me is a no-reply ) and it would be a lot easier/ cheaper than the recorded delivery option that I have used until now!

I was thinking the customer services email address probably will not be the best option???? Maybe there is a dedicated email address????

    Many thanks.
