A couple of good finds there Novice!

Both decisions came via highly experienced flight delay judges based at Liverpool, who really do understand the regulations.

Having re read the relevant arguments it seems very clear cut, you are due, I believe, 2x EC261 compensation. I don't think you're final flight on the Sunday would qualify as it was not 3 or more hours late was it? plus all your costs of course.

No doubt J2 will just 'raise the draw bridge' again:mad:

We did actually have Thursdays, Fridays and finally Sundays flights cancelled, finally returning on the Monday.

Let’s hope Botts will take it on.

    Yes, of course.

You could be setting a new record here, 3x compensation for essentially the same flight.

Novice, have you emailed CAA with a copy of Jet2's misinformation to patients?

No I hadnt at the time, but now ive sent a nice slow mail letter to Mr Haines, asking him to remind Jet2.com of the law and suggesting that they use their new enterprise powers to ensure they do fully comply with EC261/2004

I know this thread has been quiet for the last 12 months, I thought I might go back to knitting my Mum a scarf for mothers day, the scarf will wait - sorry Mum xxxx

  • So after around two weeks today I received a 400 Euro refund and the price of my reserved seat I couldnt use. Only problem is theyve now asked my wife who still travels in her maiden name as she hasnt updated her passport to write confirming she gives her permission for me to claim on her behalf. They did say that as soon as they had this they would issue that cheque as well

It is indeed a good result, they are making you work for it, but don’t give up you’re on the winning streak.

I still don't get the " knock on delay due to weather maybe an EC"
Reg. 261/2004 is quite clear about this in preamble paragraph 14 -

What is clear (I think) is that bad weather directly affecting the operation of a flight is extraordinary with respect to that flight. Nothing follows from this about whether cancellations/delays due to knock-on effects from bad weather are also extraordinary.

With the wording of the regulation, it could even be argued that bad weather is not always a definite EC.
The regualtion states "may", not is. May is a very ambiguous word..expressing possibility.
But that may be harsh on the airlines?

Really ? I don’t think so, and just when I’m thinking about asking you to represent me, when Jet2 refuse my claim. ;)
