Fligt stats gives no info. Bott & Co say you are due 250euro each passenger. Read Vaubans guide and send off letter before action. if they ignore or refuse you either you start court proceedings yourself or use a No Win No Fee solicitor. If you have the time do it yourself there will be plenty of help on this site0

Hi,
We have an ongoing claim with Jet2, plane was delayed due to a staff issue (we remember one of them was ill (pilot or co-pilot, and took them hours to get a reserve in place).
Resolver claim was acknowledged by them by email saying we had to write in, so we did, they have now replied to our written letter with their letter saying we need to supply more information - a copy of the booking reference, and also because there are 10 of us on the claim they need each person to confirm they are happy for me to claim on their behalf by signing a letter (name/address/date/signature). 4 of the 10 are kids, or were at the time of the flight, 1 is now 18 so would probably have to sign also, but I'd expect the parents could sign on the other kids behalf?
Would it be worth the 3 families doing their own claim instead? The problem there is being only 1 booking reference/invoice, it was booked and paid for all 10 people at the same time.
The main problem is with the proof of flying, it was late 2010 and no one has copies of their flight documents or stubs, we looked up the flight and have the correct flight number, times and delay length, but are relying on Jet2 confirming we flew with them.
I've yet to fully read the Vauban's Guide, but wondering if others have gone through a similar experience?0 -
You don't need ticket stubs. Have you got the booking confirmation email? That will do. If you don't have that, I'm not sure how you can make them admit you were on the flight.
What was the reason for the delay, are you sure it was Extraordinary Circumstances?
Plus, as mentioned before, they will definitely try to string you along beyond six years, so you will have to decide whether you are gong to take them to court fairly sharpish. They won't play ball otherwise, even if they owe you the money.
As far as making a multiple claim is concerned. Jet2 won't accept it, a) because they can string you all along a bit longer by making everyone claim separately, b) they will say that they cannot issue a cheque to you for someone else's compensation. For the kids, just write to explain that they are minors and you are their guardian, that worked for me. But be aware they will take six to eight weeks to reply and then ask for more unnecessary information after that. So you are in danger of being timed-out.
You can claim on behalf of the others in court, but you will have to act as a Lay Representative for the others which requires a form to be completed and for them to be present in court. You also have to be a Litigant Friend for the minors.
All doable, but you need to be sure of the reason for the delay and how you can prove you were on the flight - others here may have more of an idea about that one.
Alternatively, you could ask a NWNF solicitor to take it on and avoid the hassle.0 -
Hi folks,
Grateful for any advice. I recently submitted a claim to Jet2 regarding a delayed flight in June 2010 from Blackpool to Belfast which arrived over 4 hours late.
I received a response this morning stating the following:
"the aircraft due to operate your flight was delayed due to an airshow at Murcia on the flight date, which prevented the immediately preceding flight from operating as scheduled.
After careful review, we believe the above reason constitutes an extraordinary circumstance."
Should I even bother fighting this? I can see from flightstats.co.uk that they updated the gate time at 1.37am, over 12 hours before the flight was scheduled to depart, which should have been enough time to make alternative arrangements to avoid any delay.
I am aware that I am running out of time so might be worth taking it to Botts but before I do I would be grateful for any advice.
Thank you:)
So I just received a reply from Jet2 (see attached) after issuing a NBA letter on 8th February 2016. Still claiming it was an extraordinary circumstance. Looks like I'll have to pass this one to a NWNF solicitor as I am running out of time (June 2010 flight).
Are Bott&Co the recommended one to go with?
Thanks0 -
It's a definite fob off, they are trying to time you out.
Botts are good, helpful to me anyway. Or issue an NBA yourself. It is no way a safety issue or unexpected.0 -
Yeah, gonna pass it to Botts. I already issued a NBA but didn't have any effect.

You may find that the NWNF Co's need more time themselves.
Jet2 would have been informed in advance of any airport closure due to a planned airshow. They could have arranged around this but didn't bother. It was, therefore, a Jet2 operational decision.
You have a very winable case imho and you may have to diy or forget it.Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0 -
derrybhoy
And if you've already issued a NBA, why not fill in the N1 form and do what you threatened. It doesn't cost much to file the claim and you'll get it back. They can't argue that it was an unavoidable delay so they might just pay up without going court.
But to avoid the hassle you could always phone Botts and see what they say, there's only one way to find out if they have enough time.0
