Flight delay and cancellation compensation, Jet2.com ONLY

As per Wombat, I handed my claim over to Botts earlier this year after spending about 15 months writing to Jet2 and being turned down for various reasons over that time e.g. being too late to claim for the 2011 flight for it to be valid, technical reasons etc. Fyi, the flight was a Newcastle to Ibiza holiday flight that started at 1.30pm (on time) and ended up in Ibiza about 4 am the next morning with 3 planes involved and about 7 hours in Manchester airport.
Thankfully, it has ended well and the claim for myself, my wife, my daughter, her husband and 2 grandsons has now been paid.
It was worth going to Botts for their experience in these claim situations and it meant I didn't have to spend more time and effort writing letters to Jet2. The main thing is that Jet2 had to pay up after all their excuses failed and we ended up with something that we honestly didn't expect to get.
Good luck to anyone else going through this - it's not fun!!0 -

I am now expecting them to do nothing and in 8 months time the 6 years will be up!0 -
Sorry to hear about your delay. Caz3121, I must admit there was a couple of times when I emailed Botts to ask what was happening after seeing success stories here and pretty much got the same replies as you. After all this time, I think I'd given up on getting anything anyway so I just hung on thinking that if it did happen, it would be a bonus - and then it did happen. When it did, the settlement arrived very quickly. So just keep hanging on...0

Good to hear you have had a good experience with Botts. I put my Jet2 claim to them almost 26 months ago and have got nowhere. I have had a couple of standard updates that went to all on current situation with airlines. I have mailed them a couple of times and just get a 'working on it' response. Their website still shows the affected flight should receive compensation.

To be honest Caz I would give Botts an ultimatum - either bring this to a head or let me pursue it myself. You've followed this issue long enough to be sufficiently expert for the task, I'm sure!0 -

I know a group of 9 people from near where I live who were on the same flight (a group booking) so I told the bloke who booked their flight to press on with court proceedings – Jet2 promptly tried to settle out of court for €3,600 (9x €400). He rejected this as his original request was for interest payment for all 9 people too and he referred to my case settled in June 2015 basically saying I received interest so his group should. However the solicitor acting for Jet2 has rejected this and said;
“The Liverpool County Court has since dealt with the issue of interest specifically concluding that it is not payable in claims brought under the Regulation. Despite this, and should you chose to pursue this matter, I suggest that you take independent legal advice in relation to the same. The offer of my client as outlined below remains open and, should you choose to accept the same so that this matter may be concluded without the need to expend further time and cost, please forward your account details and I shall request that my client transfer settlement monies forthwith”
He has received court papers with next steps and is unsure whether to pursue with his claim through the small claims incase he loses his request for interest. Jet2 have agreed to pay the €3,600 it is just the case to not pay interest which will be defending in court.
Does anyone know if the rules have changed regarding paying interest (what is this re; Liverpool County Court)? I can’t seem to find any articles online which makes me think Jet2 are just using scare tactics to make him accept the €3,600……
I understand j2 are very keen not to pay interest to anyone and he may have a fight on his hands.0 -

Caz, you know probably more than I do on the regs and specifically how J2 behave, I'm dissapointed for you, that your case is still in limbo, I would definitely get pushing Botts to do the job that they ultimately should get paid for, if not, I agree with Vauban, I can't imagine more capable than yourself to take J2 on...
Good luck,

well response from Botts was that they closed my case in September and evidently emailed me. I have gone back to them requesting they resend the email and ask they why, if they believe there is no claim, they continue to show "Your Claim Amount = €250 per passenger" against the flight details
It does sound like it has gone into the 'too hard' bucket and they don't want to pursue further. They have had the case since November 2013 Resident in Scotland so have now missed the 5 year deadline..not sure if I can raise a case through the English system or just give up (I have boycotted Jet2 since the event as we were not treated well...left sat on the plane for 4 hours whilst they tried to sort technical fault)
I fly most weeks on various airlines and this was the only delay I had to claim for...and strangely the only Jet2 journey0 -

That is deeply unimpressive indeed!0 -

I'd say that's more than 'deeply unimpressive' very sad news indeed.
It's very hard to make a judgment without being aware of all the facts, but I do agree, whether you have a case or not, it's shoddy and that's me being very polite. After reading PtL Vaubans Guide , please don't desert us, hang around and help others!

Just received a cheque from JET2 for delay June 2010 for 2 passengers. After each new court case I submitted a claim which were all rejected for different reasons. The last rejection being the 2 year
deadline for claims. When JET2 agreed to the 6 year deadline with the CAA I sent another claim using the template letter. Not expecting anything other than a new rejection I was pleasantly surprised to receive the cheque within 4 weeks. Apart from time writing letters & cost of postage seems a pretty good result considering BOTTS had declined to take on my case.0
