Ooo - interesting and different. I would suggest that loading passengers on the plane is firmly within the control of the airline, and that this operational snafu cannot be regarded as "extraordinary circumstances" - though it's quite extraordinary in every other way!
I was worried they might argue that it's not in their control because it's the airport staff for example. But if they say they can't control who boards their planes, that will probably look even worse than admitting it was their fault in the first place....0 -
With the likes of Jet2, ryanir etc, it usually is the aircrew that man the gates allowing access to the aircraft, presumably under the direction of the pilot? If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

We had a 23hrs delay from Tenerife to Leeds in August 2008, which I do believe was a technical fault & then the crew being over their flying time.
I did write to complain, but got a standard letter to dismiss any compensation.
I am now aware that I can claim, but do not have this letter anymore or the boarding pass or booking ref. I have written to Jet2, but without these they will not comment.
I believe I don't need the boarding pas, but how do I get the booking ref direct from Jet2, surely they will refuse this as they will realise why I am asking for it?
Any advise much appreciated.0 -

You are too late [6 year time limit from date of delay] to take legal action therefore sadly you are wasting your time.0 -
Thanks, miss typed it was August 2008, did look into it last year & couldn't find flight details, have now got details, but no booking ref, surely Jet2 will not give me this as they will know why I want it?, but they can check themselves, just obviously don't want to make it easy?
I know it is 6yrs, so time will be up this August, is it worth pursuing?0 -

Depends if you want/need the compensation or not but if you do get on with the claim asap would be my inclination.0 -

You can try an SAR but that might not yield you a booking ref. Some SAR info here:

Please also remember that a reply to an SAR can take 40 daysThe above is just my opinon - which counts for nowt! You must make up your own mind.0 -

As long as you know which flight you were on and that it was delayed beyond the 3/4 hours specified in the Regulation, you can confidently start proceedings. You may need something to show you were on the flight but that would be when/if the case went to court.
As 111KAB says, get the process started (details in the FAQs).
As razorsedge says, try a SAR.0 -
What a battle with Jet 2!
Today I have received a letter from Jet 2 they have noted my claim for compensation under regulation EC261/2004 because the delay was my than 3 hours however because it occurred more than 2 yrs ago they are unable to consider my claim for compensation!
MSE suggests this is not the case!
Can anyone offer any advice?
Please help, does anyone have a template?0 -

First of all have a really good read of the FAQ's at post #2 on this thread and then have a read through this thread:
