Thanks for your support Dr Watson.
You can be sure that if they do not follow the regulations I’ll be the next person through your surgery doors for some expert advice on ESCP.
As our residential ESCP specialist, I’m sure your pencil will be sharp and ready to chalk up another success:)Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0 -
Isn’t it strange how seasoned travelers still get caught up in delays, as there’s perhaps half a dozen of us ‘regulars’ still actively posting but I do know many still read.
All the best of luck for your return journey and I hope this time for once we don’t have another fight. Come on Ryanair do the decent thing.
Good luck

Thank you so much for your help jPear. I got a full refund on both my tickets (even the return which was not cancelled) and today I got this.....
"We refer to your claim dated 11/07/2018.
We sincerely regret the cancellation of your flight FR1078 from Edinburgh to Hamburg on the 30/06/2018.
We wish to confirm that a cheque for the sum of 442.5 GBP (equivalent to 250 EUR per customer) has been authorised by Ryanair in full and final settlement of your claim under EU 261. Please allow 10 working days to receive this cheque to the above address.
Thank you for choosing us and we hope we will have the pleasure of welcoming you
on–board another Ryanair flight soon."
Which more than covers my rerouting costs. Thanks again.

I was delayed by almost 5 hours on FR9120, Monday 9th July, the Manchester to Malaga flight. The captain explained that it was due to a fault with the right hand engine, which I recorded just in case.
Cheeky RA then sent me a meal voucher for 5 euros to use at one of their allocated outlets. When you use the voucher it is converted to £3.50!! Which is supposed to pay for a meal with a drink at an airport, what a joke.
I sent them a receipt for a snack and cup of tea along with my 261 claim the following day.
Lets see how long it takes them, as this should be a straightforward case.
Well I cannot complain having just received an email from Ryanair stating that they have accepted my claim in full and that a cheque should arrive in 21-25 days.
Credit where it is due:T
Please stand down Dr Watson, your services may not be required, for now, after all. Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0 -
Good news indeed Tyzap,
Something perhaps J2 should learn from, and a speedy acceptance of liability which is unusual, compare that with the struggle I’m still going through since March with J2!
I’m pleased, it’s really great when you don’t need to fight for what’s rightfully yours under the regs.
I must admit though, I thought the good doctor would need to operate. After reading PtL Vaubans Guide , please don't desert us, hang around and help others!

Tyzap,
Pleased to hear it! They obviously knew who they were going to have to take on to win this one, and by that I don't mean me!
Pencil still sharpened if needed my friend!
We'll see if that cheque turns up....Successfully sued Ryanair in 2013/14...and have been 'helping' litigants since then.

One more and you will equal the Arbroath v Bon Accord score in 1885 that being a 36-0 win for Arbroath soon to be equaled by Dr. Watson. Maybe we could get it entered into the Guinness book of records LOL0

I agree with you wholeheartedly.
RA seem to recognise that some cases are not worth arguing about, there is a tacet acceptance of the law in some cases.
J2 have hardly moved on from 2014, perhaps they just cannot rid themselves of that sour taste left after a certain high court decision. They and their legal advisors just don’t seem to be able to willingly abide by the law.
Dr Watson underestimates his own reputation, a great asset to this site. I hope everyone recognises the hard work he gives freely. What most visitors to this forum see is just the tip of the iceberg, only the regulars know how much time, effort and dedication it takes. It’s nice when we come together occasionally. If you are not named it does not mean your efforts and hard work are not appreciated, by me at least:)Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0 -

Thanks Tyzap, kind words gratefully received.
Yes we work for the good of the general public who are continually wronged by the airlines steadfast disregard for the regulation. For as long as they continue, we'll still be here.
And yes, it's great when we come together occasionaly, and of course this is usually due to another wrong doing or as in your case a significant change in case law.
Without you, and your determination to right what was clearly wrong, the law and the regulation would have remained somewhat, sometimes, subject to shocking misinterpretation.
You changed the law, made it clear and unambiguous.
We are always grateful and users of this site should be too.
Companies have setup and make business to 'assist' wronged passengers in their claims because of this. We know the one we trust who helped to changed the law.
And yes, we do it for free because, we've been there, suffered delay/cancellation and tried the ( maybe then) hard road to make a successful claim.
We know how it feels, so we help others.
A better person than me in the early posts of this thread gave me great guidance, I'm just doing what I can, when needed to try and lace his boots.
Good luck and keep going everybody.Successfully sued Ryanair in 2013/14...and have been 'helping' litigants since then.
