Hi TMDaines,
The only other suggestion I have is to try to talk to the CAA help line and see what they have to say. They really should be involving themselves in the continued disregard that RA display for the regulations and the CAA's authority.
Failing that your only option is ESCP with, no doubt, the help of Dr Watson, who is the resident expert on these things. I'm sure his surgery will open soon if needed.
Good luck. Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0 -

Would anyone recommend going through AviationADR or is that a complete waste of time?0 -
Hi all,
My flight FR8747 from La Rochelle in France to London Stansted on Sunday the 10-12-2017 was cancelled.
I received a text message at 6pm so only 4h30 before my flight. Ryanair didn't have any plane planned before the following Friday and there was no direct plane in the airports nearby. I had to be at work at 9am in London the following morning so I had to take:
- A train from La Roche-sur-Yon to Paris Montparnasse on Sunday night at 20h59
- A Uber from Monparnasse train station as there was no tube at this time then sleep only 3 hours
- Take another Uber at 5am on Monday morning
- A Eurostar at 6h43am on Monday morning from La Gare du Nord to be on time for work.
I have spent a total of
- 134.67euros for the train and the two Uber taxis
- Plus 39£ for the Eurostar
I have all the receipts for my expenses.
Knowing that I didn't take another plane but that I took trains, do you think that I will get a refund?
Thanks a lot for you help,
Regards.

You should claim compensation under the regulations and the cost of your additional expenses less the cost of your airline ticket0

I attached the CAA's letter too and just got the same generic Ryanair response back after a few days, notifying that they were sticking by their original decision. Looks like I now need to spend a bit of time exploring the legal route.
Pursuing the ESCP route and reading Dr Watson's excellent post, the first thing that stands out is that I would need to pay £25 in UK court fees and potentially another 20+ Euros to send the Dublin Sheriff in to claim it.
If I were to win, would I be able to get these fees back along with the money owed? I know that I am only £80-odd out of pocket at the moment, but it is the principle of it. They are failing to fulfil their obligations and I cannot stick it to them any other way. Any boycott of their services would just mean cutting off my nose to spite my face!
TMDaines,
Regarding the fees you will have to pay for your court fees and the potential need of the Dublin County Sheriff, yes these fees would be refunded upon successful completion of your claim.
Good luck and keep going.Successfully sued Ryanair in 2013/14...and have been 'helping' litigants since then.

My wife and I were due to fly to Krakow from Stansted on Sunday 10th December. It was only when we were already on the train from Liverpool Street to Stansted that we found out our flight was cancelled due to snow.
We called Ryanair to reschedule for another day but the first available flight they had was Thursday, four days after we were due to fly. I requested to be booked on that flight but my wife absolutely had to be in Krakow on the Wednesday for work so they refunded us the money for her ticket and we booked her on an Easyjet flight from Gatwick on the Wednesday.
I am not planning to put a claim in for myself as it was due to weather conditions and I was booked on another flight free of charge (just had to pay an additional £26 in train fare). However, my wife's flight that we booked was considerably more expensive than the refund we will get from Ryanair so we are left out of pocket for her flight. Is there any point making a claim or will they just dismiss it as it was due to weather? Do we have any legal basis for a claim? I thought they had to put you on an alternative airline if one was available. We did ask on the helpline but the consultant said this wasn't possible.
Thanks in advance.0 -
Hi Matt15,
This is what should have happened....
b. Right to reimbursement, re-routing or rebooking in the event of denied boarding or cancellation
Article 8(1) of the Regulation imposes on air carriers the obligation to offer passengers a triple choice, between (i) reimbursement of the ticket price36 and, in the case of connections, a return flight to the airport of departure at the earliest opportunity, (ii) re-routing to their final destination either at the earliest opportunity or, (iii) re-routing at a later date at the passenger’s convenience under comparable transport conditions, subject to availability of seats. As a general principle, when the passenger is informed about the cancellation of the flight and is correctly informed on the available choices, the choice offered to passengers under Article 8(1) is to be made once. In such cases, as soon as the passenger has chosen one of the three options under Article 8(1)(a),(b) or (c), the air carrier no longer has any obligation linked to the other two options. Nonetheless, the obligation to compensation may still apply according to Article 5(1)(c) in connection with Article 7.
The air carrier should simultaneously offer the choice between reimbursement and re-routing. In the case of connecting flights, the air carrier should simultaneously offer the choice between reimbursement and a return flight to the airport of departure and re-routing. The air carrier has to bear the costs for re-routing or a return flight, and must reimburse the costs for the flight borne by the passenger where the air carrier does not comply with its obligation to offer re-routing or return under comparable transport conditions at the earliest opportunity. Where the air carrier does not offer the choice between reimbursement and re-routing and, in the case of connecting flights, reimbursement and a return flight to the airport of departure and re-routing, but decides unilaterally to reimburse the passenger, he or she is entitled to a further reimbursement of the price difference with the new ticket under comparable transport conditions. Please read Vaubans superb guide. Hello!
I had bought a ticket from Gdansk to Bergamo, the flight was cancelled more than one month before the date, I chose to get the money back and bought a ticket with a different airline. Some time later I received the email herebelow.
Has anybody received an email like this from Ryanair?? I need help, is this a real message from Ryanair?
Dear Customer
You recently submitted an EU261 claim to Ryanair which we have reviewed and we will respond shortly.
A payment was incorrectly made on Friday 03/11/2017 to the debit/credit card used when you made your original booking. Your Ryanair account is now out of balance and has an overdue payment of 500EUR
We have attempted to reverse this erroneous transaction without success. We would appreciate your assistance by calling us on the below phone number so this can be rectified. Until this overpayment is rectified we regret in advance that you will be unable to travel on a Ryanair flight as you will have a payment overdue on your account.0 -
Did you receive a paymentof €500? If not then ignore.
This sounds like a scam as there is no amount of €500 payable under regualtion 261/2004, unless it is for 2 passengers. (2 x €250)
There is NO way Ryanair would have paid you compensation under reg 261/2004 voluntarily. You would have had to make a claim and fight hard to get it.If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide
