  • You have had it, it is unscrupulous of them but you are out of time to take them to court as you would have to first send them a letter before action and give them 14 days before starting legal action. All you can do is hope you get the correspondence going and hope they pay but I doubt it.
  • I have managed to speak to someone on online chat who was more helpful than the other 2 and finally I have been able to email them a copy of the letter plus my bank details.
I've a feeling I wont get anything as I have only a few days before the 6 years are up but at least I tried. After you reply here I am not expecting even a reply from them and now know there is nothing I can do. If I do hear anything, ill let you know. Thanks for the advice, appreciate it
  • Good luck.

I think in this circumstance the OP could reasonably submit a claim online today. The airline have admitted liabilty and could clearly be considered to be procrastinating and obfuscating the process.
HGave yoiu written evidence that they will pay out?
If so contact said person you managed to speak to let them know you will be submitting court papers on 1st March unless payment is received by close of business on 29th. I know its a bit tight but it may prompt them into action knowing you mean business. And don't let them fob you off with time it takes to pay out. They should have a department dealing with these matters, if they don't more fool them.

Quick update. Received a letter off Ryanair saying they will compensate me within 25 working days and I have sent over bank details so just waiting to see if money will go in bank account or not? After reading some posts it seems that they sometimes pay out but surely if they admit liability they have to? Just playing the waiting game now.
    Thanks for your support

You must be very careful lichlass because of the 6 year limitation period. While you could probably argue that the promise to pay amounts to a new contract (consideration from you is forebearing from suing) it would be worth getting them to confirm before the 6 years are up that they won't raise the issue of limitation

The 6 years were up yesterday so it's too late to do anything. Think they would be pretty rotten not to pay out when I have the letter confirming they will pay out. I'm not holding my breath but if they do pay out its a bonus. I've sat on it for 6 years thinking it's too much hassle but after reading on here I thought I would give it a go. Used resolver and it was so simple so would recommend anyone to give it a go. If they do pay out ill let you know

Quick update. Suprisingly Ryanair have been the good guys and yesterday they put £1256:00 into my bank account for the 16 hour delay. Most unexpected as the 6 years were up but seems they kept their word. One happy lady . Thanks for your support. It was a process I had been putting off but it was really easy after reading all the info here so thanks again

Late Feb Ryanair paid out (via Bott) for 11x passengers from Marrakech to Stansted on 13/08/15 for a 4 hour delay.

    Total Amount Received
    £3,095.40

    LESS
    Our Charges:
    27% Deduction (less VAT)
    £696.47
€25 Admin Fee per Passenger (less VAT)
    £161.26
    £857.73
    VAT
    £171.54
    £1,029.27

Total paid out to 11 passengers in this case
    £2,066.13

The amount due to you personally is £187.83

However Bott will be going to Court for one passenger, child, we paid £20.00 for the child seat and have confirmation from Ryanair chat with a breakdown of costs and it clearly shows this but the compensation team are saying no child fare was paid so are not paying out.

    All the best to everyone.
