Not a lost cause at all; BA are not being straight. Best wait for the outcome of the Huzar case, which goes to the Court of Appeal this week: if it is upheld (judgement expected some weeks afterwards) then your claim will be strong and simple.

    Hi Vauban,
thank you very much for your comment. I just checked some of the websites that do the claims for you. However, they now say that:
    Extraordinary circumstances apply
Our check has shown that your flight is a problem flight affected by extraordinary circumstances. We are therefore unfortunately unable to process your claim.

2 days ago it showed as "claimable"? What do you think I should do? Still pursue or drop it?

    Kind Regards,
    Pippaki

Vauban said "Best wait for the outcome of the Huzar case, which goes to the Court of Appeal this week" and nothing has changed since then ....

Thank you, I am following this on twitter. Am just wondering if those claim companies wouldn't accept my claim if it was worth pursuing or not and why a couple of days ago it said a claim could be made but now it says it cannot.

I think BA have now shown (via your post) that they will resist any compensation claims for your flight and you are probably going to have to go to court to get some. Any NWNF that have changed their stance in the last few days are probably thinking it wouldn't make economic sense (for their slice of the compensation) for them to actually have to go to court, they are a business afterall!;)
The above is just my opinon - which counts for nowt! You must make up your own mind.

Hi everyone, I have been in correspondence with a passenger who was on the same cancelled flight as me. They have just informed me that after submitting a claim via MCOL, BA have agreed to settle the compensation claim. Should I now write back to BA, as surely they have set a precedent, by paying out to one passenger.
Any advice would be most welcome.
    Thanks

Why not try it, and see what happens?

I thought I'd post a brilliant compensation story with BA. I was delayed 2 years ago for over 5 hours returning to florida . We were a party of 5. I followed the instructions on this site and posted recorded delivery. Within 2 days I received an email reply and they have agreed to repay £2500 ! I am over the moon. Thank you Martin!

    :j Hi everyone, just a follow up on my delayed flight. I have received an email today saying that;
We have reviewed your claim and you are entitled to compensation for cancellation of your flight BA2957 on 26 March 2014. So after three emails the last of which I informed them I know they had settled with another passenger on the same flight they have agreed to pay out
I am delighted, thanks everyone for your help.
  • Hi,

I was supposed to fly from Glasgow to Gatwick, then from Gatwick to Tampa, Florida. However the Glasgow to Gatwick flight was cancelled because of a technical fault. This meant I missed my flight to Tampa so flew on the equivalent flight the next day. As I understand it, I'm probably entitled to 600EUR per person since I arrived at my final destination 24 hours later than scheduled. The entire journey was booked at the same time in one booking. I say 'probably' because the technical fault issue is something of a grey area.

However, we were also delayed on the way home, and the circumstances are a little more complex. We left Tampa and arrived in Gatwick on time. The Gatwick to Glasgow flight was delayed 3h 16mins. When I'm writing to BA to claim for this delay, what should I be asking for? I'm not sure what conditions apply to me, and I can't find anything online that definitively answers my scenario. In this situation what is the departure airport? Is it Tampa since that was the starting destination of the journey, or is it Gatwick because that's where the delay started? Ultimately, I want to know what classification of compensation applies.

    Thanks,

    Fish
