In a word - no. You could argue that BA have provaricated and delayed but I suspect this wouldn't stand up in court, if it ever got that far. The cynic in me would suspect that BA knew this in the first place... I leave you to your own conclusions. If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Totally agree. They moved the goalposts. Then let time drag out.
I'll never fly with them again.
Plenty of other and cheaper options to travel.0 -
Hi
Could someone advise me on whether I have a good case for compensation?
I have already applied but BA rejected the claim.
In June I was returning to Heathrow from Philadephia and the flight was delayed 10 hours.
I understood at the time the reason for the delay to be the co-pilot had some family emergency (possibly a bereavement?) and another pilot had to flown out from the UK but they had to have a rest period before being available. (But the rejection email did not mention any of this.)
Now is that an extraordinary happening? I could argue it both ways - it was "unpredictable, unavoidable and external" but then I could say shouldn't they have backup flight crew?
What should I do?
Thanks for your help.0 -

We had a lot of bad snow in December 2010, and with the knowledge that the delay was a technical fault, perhaps its worth me including a sentence suggesting that the delay was due to a technical fault, as opposed to BA replying with bad weather as an excuse?
Just thought I'd let everyone know that I was successful with my claim - with a turnaround of only 4 weeks from conception to receipt of a cheque! I couldnt believe that I only wrote once, albeit with all the required paperwork/documentation, and didnt have to chase them up once.
I managed to get £255 or 300 euros as a passenger of my delayed flight in the post a few days ago, however according to the customer service representative, my wife who was the other passenger in my travelling party is supposed to claim separately, as I am unable to claim for her personally. My wife is chasing this up as we speak...
Great success!0 -
Wrote to BA claiming compensation for delay over 4 hours to far east.
They contacted me and told me i could not claim as the flight landed less than 4 hours late. Can they do this?0 -

compensation applies after 3 hours delay - what does flightstats show as the length of delay for your flight arrival time?0 -
I love this site.
I claimed for compensation for a flight from Heathrow to Vancouver which had an 8.5 hour delay at the end of July.
BA have just confirmed that i am entitled to compensation and will be sending a cheque.
The have however also stated that my wife has to apply for compensation for her flight seperately. I don't mind doing it but it is a bit of a pain. Anybody been paid compensation for both parties without having to do this?0 -
Hi all
I sent a letter to BA on 2nd September so my 14 days is up tomorrow. What do I do if I don't hear back in time0 -

RE: amanda65, is that 16 days or 16 working days? Either way Id give them a bit more time, like a week or so, and then follow it up with another letter and/or email serving as a polite reminder.0 -

Hi 14 days so only 10 working days I guess, will hold fire.
It will interesting to see what they come back with regarding the individual claims as ours was a group booking so would hope we can claim as a group!0
