My flight from Ibiza to Gatwick was delayed last night by over 3 hours due to the Gatwick ATC computer problems as reported here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-sussex-48944552

I put my flight into the bottonline claim company search (with fake contact details) and it says I am due 250 EUR compensation per person.

I also did the same on the euclaim website and it says "An analysis of the data for this flight shows that an extraordinary circumstance was the cause of the delay. Unfortunately you are not entitled to compensation."

Mixed messages. Is it worth filling out BA's form?

Bottonline always seems a bit more optimistic about these things. It won't do any harm to complete the form also asking them for a deadlock letter should they refuse your claim or you could hand it to bott & co for 30%.
  • Hi,

A group of us have booked a four night trip through BA with flights and accommodation included. The trip isn't until early next year, but we have been told our return flight has been cancelled (already) and we are now booked on a return flight a day later? How do we stand with regards compensation (if any) for the added day's expenditure, extra time off work etc etc? BA have said they will sort out our extra night in the hotel at no added cost but is this standard or are we entitled to more? I've had flights cancelled/delayed before on the day and have been dealt with fairly, but never been in this situation where the flight has been cancelled and changed months in advance? Any help or advice would be most gratefully received, Ryan.

All Airlines make these types of decisions especially when they are months ahead. Unfortunately, they have given you more than 14 days notice. Technically they should try and get you a flight home on the same day but with a different airline. Quote EU/261/2004 Article 5 which covers the above. Have a read yourself first.

Just had our flight to Germany cancelled. Found out last night, due to travel today. I wasn't told the reason but it was a package deal and no other flight that day. Will I get compo?

It will depend on the reason whether compensation applies...

Correct me if I am wrong but as I read it BA will be responsible for paying compensation for delayed or cancelled flight during any strike.

I think you're right if it is their own staff who strike:)
