Flight delay and cancellation compensation, BA ONLY

The bit that is unclear (and there are a number of posts on the BA thread on Flyertalk) is whether the compensation amount should be €250 for a delayed tier 1 flight or whether it should be €600 based on your entire journey. BA appear to be taking the stance that, if there is no delay on the initial flight, the compensation amount is based on which flight the delay starts...there is much debate over whether this is the right or wrong approach and I expect to try to get the €600 would involve court
Not sure if this helps but I have just claimed.
Flight was 52 mins late landing at LHR (from manc). Missed connecting flight to Denver so 600 euros were due and paidLoved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!0 -

I think that sort of claim is being treated correctly
the issue appears to be around delays/cancellations on the latter flight only when the initial flight is on time0 -
So I take it from your post that although there was a 9 hour gap overall getting to our final destination due to first the cancellation and the delay on the rebooked flight (which was rebooked by them we were not offered a refund), that the compensation claim for the delay on the rebooked flight would need to be 3hrs to make a separate claim. The 9 hours delay in reaching the destinations overall doesn't count ie they are treated as separate things and not the overall amount of additional time it took to reach our final destination?
Hey Janey,
Thanks for the reply. The crux of my argument is around the strike which didn't end up happening in the end. I am trying to argue that either they accept that the strike didn't happen and were told the day before travel, in which case they didn't put the flight back, so they cancelled the flight for a non-exceptional circumstance. OR, they accept that they strike being called off was end of the strike action, in which case they can not use the "exceptional circumstances" argument for cancelling the flight the day after they were informed.
I put this to them, and am waiting for a response.0 -
Our return BA flight from Marseilles to Heathrow was cancelled due to mechanical failure of the airplane. The flight was due to depart at 21:00 but did not in fact take off until 11:30 the following day. I contacted BA for a refund and was told that as we booked our trip via Expedia we must make a claim against them. I phoned Expedia and was offered a £25 voucher as a gesture of goodwill which I declined.
i expressed my dissatisfaction and the gentleman I spoke with referred my case to Expedia's customer services who will answer within 28 days.
Has anybody also experienced anything like this?0 -
This is wrong. Your claim for Rebulation 261/04 compensation is from BA - not Expedia.0

BA are being obstructive in this case, you can always report them to the CAA.
I believe this may relate to your delay.

If this is your flight then it seems that it was due to an ordinary technical fault, in which case you have a valid claim from BA as Vauban has already stated. Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0 -

If you book a ticket through an agent and request a refund then the airline will point you back to your agent. If you correctly request EU261 compensation, the airline will deal.
Suggest you read Vauban's Guide and the BA thread and refrain from referring to EU261 compensation as a "refund" to get the correct response.0 -
Hi
Im flying to US from bham airport changing at dublin but british airways changed the connecting flight from dublin to the next day which meant a 16hr wait and getting to the US a day later . I said this was unacceptable. So the the only option the gave was for me to fly from bham to dublin then from dublin to london, is that crazy or what. They wont let me change airport to london cus i booked through 3rd party. What can i do??? I cant even drive down to london cus i have to fly from bham0 -
Flying via Dublin and Heathrow is more common than you think!
How much later would that make your arrival?
When are you flying, and what is the reason for the delay?0 -
Originally flying 3 nov bham to dublin then dublin to US, arriving 3 nov
Now im still flying 3 nov and arriving 3 nov but from bham to dublin then from dublin to london then london to US0
