EuClaim says you could be due €600 per passenger. Put your flight details into bottonline and see what they say. Then come back.
I have been trying to find bottomline flight delays but the screen just stays blank. please would you have the website address for me to search.

    Hi Lisa,

Thanks for moving your post to the correct thread.

The excuses they are giving you are just rubbish. There were no unaccompanied bags! and why they insisted on removing the Kindles from the hold when the regs do do stipulate they should not be there is a mystery and completely unnecessary, according to the CAA website.

Tell them you don't accept their reasoning and ask them to refer your case to CEDR who will adjudicate on your case.

    Good luck.
Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.

Thank you so much. I have replied to their rejection email with the following (link for caa removed as I cannot post links)

I am disappointed that you have chosen to reject my claim for compensation using extraordinary circumstances as according to the CAA these items are allowed on the hold

This is the advice offered by the CAA...

It says that these items are allowed in hold baggage....

Portable electronic devices such as watches, calculating machines, cameras, cellular phones, laptop computers, camcorders when carried for personal use.

Each installed or spare battery must not exceed the following:

    lithium metal batteries, a lithium content of not more than 2 grams;
    or
lithium ion batteries, a watt-hour rating of not more than 100 Wh.
Batteries and cells must be of a type which meets the requirements of each test in the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria, Part III, subsection 38.3. It may be necessary to contact the battery manufacturer prior to travel to confirm they have complied with the requirements.

Should be carried in carry-on baggage. If a device is carried in checked baggage, measures must be taken to prevent unintentional activation and to protect from damage. The device must be completely switched off (not in sleep or hibernation mode).

Portable electronic devices (including medical devices) containing lithium metal or lithium ion cells or batteries (articles containing lithium metal or lithium cells or batteries, the primary purpose of which is to provide power to another device must be carried as spare batteries)./I]

If the rules are different leaving Punta Cana everyone should have been informed before they checked in their luggage.

You also claim it was the reason was :

    8. Removal of unaccompanied baggage due to a serious security concern as imposed by the security regulation.

The baggage was NOT unaccompanied as they had all been through the security screening after check in and loaded onto the plane without any security alerts so I do not accept that there was nothing that could have been done to avoid the delay. The reason they were taken off is because a customer said they left their kindle in their case and then more came forward as they didn't know they were not allowed to pack them on the hold. I also remember that when there were security issues with Egypt and Turkey, customers were made to put their phones and kindles, laptops etc into the hold instead of hand luggage. I am baffled as to how the rules can change to suit.

I do not accept your reasoning and would like you to refer my case to CEDR to adjudicate on my case and carry on my claim for compensation

Hi, we have received an update from CEDR and they advised that TUI 'filed a defence to this matter'.

If possible can anyone clarify what this actually means and is this a common update from CEDR?

    Thanks,
    Mark.

I assume it means what it says, namely that the airline has provided their side of the argument to CEDR.

Thanks, not sure if this would happen but if CEDR come back to me and close the matter would that then prevent me from using a no win no fee company?

    Thanks
    Mark.
