Yes I do. Do some reading of FAQs and search the forum (where you will also find many uncomplimentary comments on the CAA).0 -
So... Just received an email from the CAA about my claim for compensation against Thomson.
It's not very interesting, new guidelines etc for extraordinary circumstances therefore in their opinion airline don't need to pay.
Very strange, as Thomson's paid us the full compensation 4 months ago!!!
As all previous posts have said, the CAA is totally useless and a complete waste of your time even considering to communicate with them. It has taken them over 12 months to investigate and reply with incorrect information on a case that was settled out of court! The CAA couldn't even get the date of the flight correct!!!
Take heed everyone, the only way to get compensation is to go through the court process.0 -
I have spoke to a NWNF company who said all their info has to be confirmed with EUclaim and they have advised that they don't have any data for this flight so they are unable to pursue the claim without EUClaims validation.
Would this be the same for any NWNF company and what does it mean for my claim, the flight definitely happened and I was definitely on it have the boarding cards and everything.
Thompson are saying they wont look into a claim over 2yrs ago and Im running out of time limitation wise.
Whats my next steps ?0 -
does the flight show on Flightstats?0

Hi No it doesn't show on flightstats but I have just spoken to a solicitor who believes I have a very good claim and the fact that I have our boarding cards and the letter from the airline stating the overnight delay and reasons for it with flight number on it as well as having my original booking invoice, stands us in good stead.
As long as I get all documentation to them by Friday, we still have time to pursue the claim.
My hubby complains at me hanging on to papers and stuff years after the event, boy is he glad I did now haha0 -
My wife, 16 year old son and I encountered a 21 hour delay with Thompson Airways on our return flight from Rhodes to Manchester in July 2013. Although we were very well looked after in resort - put up in a nice hotel and well fed, I decided to try and get compensation for what was an unusually lengthy delay.
My initial letter to Thompson was met with a rapid reply effectively telling me we hadn't a leg to stand on and quoting loads of legal jargon. So downloaded the letter template on MSE site and sent that back to them. Again, another knock-back letter from Thomson - more blurb. So decided to take it further. As our flight was delayed out of Greece there are special forms - again available on MSE site which I completed and together with copies of everything I had sent and received back from Thompson sent to the necessary authority in Greece. Didn't hear anything back from them until I received a further letter from Thompson saying how sorry they were for our delay and enclosing a cheque for £997!! That apparently equates to the 400 euro compensation they are obliged to pay out I believe. The compensation was more than our holiday cost so we are now planning a 'freebie' holiday for later in 2014.
My advise is Dont Give In. I suspect the entire process from start to finish took me around 4 hours and was easy.0 -
Thanks NAFT and congrats, Ive had the usual standard response from them, saying pretty much the same as yours did and certainly not going to let it put me off.
Enjoy youre freebie hol0 -
They are emailing me all the documents today so I can get them signed by everyone (there were 12 in our party !) I have to have them back to them by Friday with all my supporting evidence.
Hows that not quick? its Wednesday now. She just said Friday is the lastest day they can start pursing.
Yes it will be 6 years July0 -

You said in the earlier post "As long as I get all documentation to them by Friday, we still have time to pursue the claim". You have all of May and June and some of July to pursue the claim, so I just thought it was strange that they said they would have to have your information by Friday. Just an observation; no harm in doing it as soon as ....0
