Ah, but did you take all reasonable measures upto intolerable sacrifice to reduce the delay? ;)

It doesn't matter: he was maintained to industry standards and his behaviour was not predictable. That's what Wallentin says, right?:D

  • Hi,
We were due to fly home from our holiday in Kos into Cardiff 2011. We arrived at the airport and the flight was cancelled; I believe there was an initially a technical fault with the plane, then as time past, they said there had to be so many hours of resting time for the staff, between the flights. We therefore got put up in a hotel for the evening, and flew back the following afternoon. Would we still be intitled to anything as we were well over 5 hours, however they did provide an alternative service, including accomodation, food / drinks / return flight home? Any tips would be highly appreciated, many thanks.

I was going to say read the FAQs on page one, but I see both Caz and 111KAB have already given you that advice! Is there a specific question you had?

Hi all - thank you for your info.
I have checked the FAQ and sadly can not find anything for my particular query.
The main point I stress is, if I was taken care of at the time by the airline, would it be a silly question to ask for compensation on the delay for over 5 hours?
If airline have arranged an alternative flight, all costs involved were covered ccomodation, food, drinks, (less parking fees), would I still be entitled to claim on the main issue which was the flight was delayed over 5 hours?

You can claim the flat rate of so many euros per passenger depending on the length of the delay

That is unless the delay was caused by 'extraordinary circumstances' when they must look after you (as they did) but do not have to compensate you

Not being funny but you haven't read the FAQs enough or properly if you are asking that question. The answer is there if you read what the FAQs say.

If you are happy with the way you were dealt with, leave it at that. If you think you might be entitled to compensation, set aside an hour and give the FAQs your undivided attention. It's a very good investment of time.
  • Have claims all gone a bit quiet waiting the outcome of the appeals? We are waiting for the Dawson appeal to be won or lost.

    Most. But not quite all.

Huzar (Wallentin 2.0) will affect more claims potentially than Dawson, particularly as time goes on.
