  • Delayed by 21 hours - put in a hotel but told to check out by midday when we were not returning to airport till 7.30pm (it was 38c). Then flown to Birmingham instead of Bristol with no prior warning and no reasonable explanation. Then bussed to Bristol. By the time we got there we were 24 hours late - I had to take a taxi from Bristol to Exeter to make an oncology appointment which I could not miss. I wonder if anyone else on the flight is on the forum.
I emailed TC on 2nd July and got a standard reply saying they aimed to respond within 28 days. I emailed again this morning saying their 28 days were up and please respond today but have not received anything. What does one do if they just don't reply? IN others' experience, is it worth getting a solicitor?

Take them to court either under own steam (100% return) or use a no win no fee (c 73% return).
  • My delayed flight was booked through Tomas Cook but was operated by Condor. Can you give me the details to submit a claim to Condor.

Condor is the Belgian sister co to Thomas Cook. They are owned by |Thomas Cook. They also have a subsidiary co flying out of Frankfurt, Germany.

I would complain to TC for your delay, they most likely wet leased the plane to cover for summer schedules. More than likely it would be a TC crew on board. Failing that try www.condor.com

Hi all just wanted to ask a quickie. Was delayed on the 28 August 2012 Cancun to Manchester. I have the letter given to us on the day say it was due to unforseen operationally significant defect which required rectification prior to further flight. We were delayed for 8 and a half hours. Is the one I can claim on please. Thank you x

    Yes totally valid claim.
  • Hi after some advice, I have now had three different reasons from Thomas Cook for the delay to my flight last year from Cyprus. We were given a letter as we eventually boarded a plane advising it was due to unavoidable operational circumstances. I put my claim in and got the bog standard letter citing delays were of a technically nature. At this point (August 2013) I refered it to the Cypriot aviation authorty, whom as of the last time I spoke to them in April were still trying to get the flight logs from Thomas Cook. After the 10th June 2014 ruling I went back to Thomas Cook and asked them to re-look at my claim, only to receive another letter this time advising me my flight had been delayed due to unexpected safety issues. What can anyone suggest I do next.

Court action (NBA) or NWNF solicitor is the only way to bring this to a satisfactory conclusion.......don't waste any more of your time or energy on it.

Think you have gone backwards and forwards enough times now so court action after a NBA or appoint a no win no fee. The change in reasoning by TC will assist your case.

Hiya again thank you very much for your help:beer: could I now possibly ask one more. On the 4th of sept 2008 , we were due to fly back from our honeymoon again from cancun. Just as we were boarding the plane there was smoke coming through the airvents, so we evacuated and were put in hotels until anew plane could be sent from the uk..we therefore had a 24 hour delay to get back home. Now with this being kind of an emergency would there be a claim. I would not have thought so but worth it to ask.....thank you again x
