  • Completed the online form on 30th June and received the standard email saying they aim to respond in 28 days. On the 28th day I telephoned and asked for an update to be told that it with still being investigated and I would hear soon.
Emailed them again on 1st of august and received an email on 2nd saying they have posted vouchers for £649 and I am going to ring today to ask for cash.
My flight was from Cardiff on 22nd September 2012 to Antalya, flight number TCX7848 and delayed for 11 hours due to pilot ringing in sick many hours before we were due to fly. 2 adults and 1 child which was free so the money offered is full amount.
So for anyone on this flight definitely worth applying as it took 30 days to get the confirmation.
  • Contacted Thomas Cook and informed the cash will be in my bank within 14 days :)
  • My son and 3 friends were delayed on return flight from Heraklion Crete on Tuesday 3/9/13. initially they were told flight was 3hrs delay then this was updated to 8 hrs. They were offered the chance of flying to Manchester airport instead with a coach to Glasgow (still meaning a substantial delay). My son and his friend decided to take the offer as my son had injured his ankle and was in great deal of pain. The other 2 decided to wait for the Glasgow flight. However, when my son and friend tried to check in on the Manchester flight, they were told they were not booked onto it! They returned to the Glasgow check in to be told their names had been removed from the flight! Eventually after much debate, they were offered a flight to Birmingham and connecting flight to Glasgow (arriving home about 21 hrs later than they should have).
Obviously the two friends who boarded the Glasgow flight will be entitled to the delayed flight compensation as they were well over 8hrs delayed. What can my son and his friend claim? Are they at least entitled to same as two who boarded Glasgow flight? and are they likely to receive further compensation for the further delay and obvious distress (and pain) caused by Thomas Cook mix up regarding the Manchester flight? Appears rep had taken their names off the Glasgow flight but forgot to book them on the Manchester one?
    Any advice would be great.
Delay on Glasgow flight was "technical problem".
Hi I've been in touch with Greek air authorities and they are taking this flight delay further as thomas cook are not complying with EC regulations, hope it's a good outcome!!
  • Hi all,

I'm brand new to this so please bear with me!

On 18th June 2014 me, my husband and daughter flew from Stansted to Rhodes. The flight was delayed for a fair while which is being dealt with by Thomas Cook after a fashion, not very well but I think something is happening.

However, it is the return flight I have major issues with. It was on 25th June, which turned out to be the day of the French ATC strike.

We were told nothing about the strike. We were collected from our hotel at the appointed time, driven around the island for around two hours (going well away from the quickest route to the airport, everyone on the coach was in agreement) and then dumped there to discover flight delays of up to six hours.

We had no idea about this. Thomas Cook did. We were supposed to depart at 20.40 on 25/6/14. We eventually took off at 2.20 on 26/6/14 - a delay of five hours and forty minutes.

We were given no food, drink or explanation. The place was full to capacity and the toilets couldn't cope - just vile.

My argument is that if they were aware of the gravity of the situation before we were collected from our hotels (which they were) we should have been left there in comfort and safety until such time as we were likely to depart. All they are saying is that because it was caused by a strike they aren't responsible, but surely they should have made sure we were comfortable. We weren't given so much as a bottle of water.

Any help and advice on this will be most welcome!

    Thank you,

ATC strike so airline are not obligated to pay any compensation however they have a 'duty of care' responsibility (read 261/2004 - Right to Care article 9) - if this was not provide you could have claimed back from the airline upon presentation of valid receipts.

Don't hold your breath, this has nothing to do with the greek authorities, this is for you to action. This will be a fob off from them to you.

Submitted a claim on 20th June 2014 for a 5 hour delay to cancun from Gatwick back in November 2010.

Yesterday I received a voucher for £982 for final settlement for 2 passengers who travelled.

I could push for cash but that might get spent where as this guarantees a free/cheap holiday next year.

Amazed at the speed of the turnaround and the acceptance without debate from thomas cook

How did you manage to get this resolved so quick please do you know the problem as to why your flight was delayed?

Hi new to the forums , just got back home , we had a 15hr delay with thomas cook from sharm , we were supposed to fly out at 9 pm flight delayed , explained by captain around 11pm that they were waiting for an engineer from cairo to check plane , crew runs out of hours so flight cancelled , shipped to a poor hotel at 3am check out at 8am flying at 12 noon , we were booked into the premier inn nec before we left for parking and stay with holiday extras , as we have a 5 hour drive to get home , gets into uk at 3pm eventually gets to the premier inn night lost , so we make our way home , looking at the forums what sort of chance of compo would i get for the delay and also for the hotel loss
