Flight delay and cancellation compensation, Thomas Cook ONLY

As it appears we are all getting the same brush off letter, is there a way of finding out how many actual flights were delayed with the same excuse over, say, a six month period, against the actual flight that took of on time? We may then be able to prove that TC is not fit for purpose therefore and can't cope with the demand or promises when flights are booked etc. ie I believe (have been told) they just don't have enough servicable aircraft to do their job and know that a majority of their flight will be delayed and are jiggling their planes around and are always in a "catch up" situation that will never end?
I am surprised at the number of long delays mentioned in this forum, and also the number of viewings and posts the TC thread on the forum receives. Compared to BA, Easyjet, and even Thomson, TC is a relatively small airline. Realistically one would expect viewings, and posts to be relative to the number of flights an operator has, this is clearly not the case with Thomas Cook, and Monarch, sounds fishy to me. I would therefor consider it prudent to avoid such airlines.0 -

As TC don't seem to want to play fair with the claims it receives, I'm sure everyone on here will avoid flying with them in future.0 -
thinking of using my home insurance in terms of legal cover to try and get the compensation, anyone had experience of this, only thought is someone said time limit in scotland is 5 years and not 6 for claims.0

Hurghada to gatwick 19/10/2012 TCX 1639
They have sent me a cheque for 970 lovely pounds after submitting template letter claim on line 10 days ago.No arguing just a straight cheque sent through the post.
Our flight was delayed due to knock on effect of one of their planes having to do an emergency landing somewhere else due to smoke in cabin. Not our airport or destination involved but cabin crew informed entire plane when we finally boarded of the reason as above therefore it wasn't thomas cooks fault!
However I filed court action last friday on another flight claim which they are trying to ignore.
The cheque is dated Monday 11 Feb the first working day after I filed with the court. Connected or coincidence??0 -

One further point regarding using the legal expenses route, have you got the same insurer now as you had when the delay occurred? If not you will probably find that they will not take on your case as they were not the insurer at the time.
Mine did that. But luckily I still has my old insurers details and they are taking it on.0 -

Spot on Centipede100, i only changed to them in 2010, im now thinking of going down the specialist company route as i dont have any info from previous insurers though i think it was nationwide, may well give them a call on the off chance they can do something.0 -
I was on flight TCX519K on 10 December 2010 from Glasgow to Tenerife delayed for over 24 hours. The reason was a fault on the plane requiring a replacement part that could not be delivered from Manchester until 11th of December. We were kept up to date information wise by Thomas Cook and given 2 sets of food vouchers (I cannot remember the value). Once we were informed that we were to be delayed overnight we were put up in an airport hotel and supplied with dinner and breakfast. The flight departed on 11 December on a different plane. Thomas Cook cannot be faulted for their customer service on the day but as I lost one day out of a 7 day holiday I felt I had to claim compensation.
I claimed compensation on 7 November 2012 (using the MSE template) and today (15 Feb 2013) received a cheque for £710 from Thomas Cook.
Many thanks to MSE without whom I would not have been aware of the compensation legislation.0 -

Did you initially receive the rejection letters or was it a straight forward payout?0 -
can anyone help, we were delayed overnight and sent to a hotel near Manchester airport but we've lost the details of the holiday. The flight was TC and we are pretty sure it was 25th October half term in 2009 flying to Cyprus....is anyone else claiming for this????if so can you help with flight number etc???

Hi
Sorry it is probably written here several times but I can't find it - is there a template to send back to TC once they have sent the original standard - extraordinary circumstances letter? Or how to proceed from here?0
