  • Well done to Thomas cook, we was delayed 27 hours last week from Sharm to Newcastle, phoned today and was offered just over £2k for the 4 of us, no questions or forms or emails, Simply a cheque will be sent in the next 28 days.

Spot on for me, and another reason why we always book with them.

I too am in a similar position to Pip10 #2378 where they have refused on 3 occasions to answer my questions - apparently they 'have given me all the information available' and wouldn't even confirm whether they have supplied their report to the Spanish CAA, who I involved 6 weeks ago. I am not wasting anymore time on them and have issued an NBA.

I was delayed for about 9 hours in airport then overnight in hotel for a total of 18 hours on a flight zante to Glasgow.

We are a family of 5 which includes 2 toddlers of 2 and 3 yrs old and our holiday ended in an absolute nightmare.

We were initially on the plane about to take off and then the pilots said there was a problem with the hydraulics.

I emailed Thomas cook and they got back to me within 2 hrs saying they has investigated the delay and it was outwith their control ie extraordinary circumstances.

Does anyone think I should still push for compensation?

Some panel fell off the Airplane on the inbound flight, we was told it would be fixed straight away, but problems occurred that meant is wasn't, we was put up over night and rushed back to airport, only to wait again all day, supplied 2 meals in airport and everyone was feed for free on the eventual flight, was expected to arrive Newcastle 18;40pm Wednesday, got back totally knackered 11pm Thursday. Lots went on inbetween, but Captain on flight announced we would all be getting compo and told us how to claim.
  • Hello,

I wrote a letter to Thomas Cook a number of weeks ago, and I have now received a reply. We were delayed by 10 hours 26 minutes from Larnaca, Cyprus - flying to Gatwick Airport. I was 5 months pregnant and ended up having to lay on the airport floor as they did not give us anywhere else to go. In their reply they have given us compensation of £349.00 per person, however it is in voucher form to be redeemed within a year. We can not travel now as our daughter is unwell with a long term condition and unable to fly. So I was wondering if it is legal for them to give us a voucher or if the compensation has to be cash?

    Many thanks,
    Lauren

Thank you - sorry I am new to the forums and don't know how to search for these answers. How do I go about saying this to Thomas Cook?

    Thanks.
  • My daughter was delayed in may, at Ema for 6 hours they were going to Turkey for a wedding. They had already paid an extra £75 excess luggage. so were not happy to be delayed,i read your forums and decided to act on there behalf.I sent your claim form for compo and put in a letter about all that was wrong at the airport, as a result they have been given £1040 voucher to be used by June next year.:T
  • Well, we have done everything we were advised to do. We used the Templates, wrote to Thomas Cook, then to the CAA. The complaint arose from a 24 hour flight delay to Cuba from Manchester in November 2012. We did actually take off but needed to come back after the plane developed a loud technical fault after flying over one and a half hours. We know we were entitled to compensation legally but today the final letter from the CAA has said that because another passenger on the flight went to court and LOST against Thomas Cook, the court considered that the flight disruption was not within control of the company. Therefore a precedent has been set and no further action could be taken against the company. The company will rely on this particular case to reject future claims A days holiday missed, very shoddy treatment by Thomas Cook all round, and two very disgruntled pensioners to boot !!! Our case is now closed despite all our efforts. I thought you would be interested in what happened to us. We just don't do TC any more..fact !:(
