Well done Maz!!!! Hope you get your cheque soon. I have made a claim for my flight Dalaman to Manchester July 2011. It was delayed 5 hours but without consultation we were put on a flight to Humberside instead. Dont know if i will be successful but Hey. I have never been on a flight with Thomas Cook that has actually left on time! they are that bad i refuse to fly with them now if they are the only flight operator i will switch venue. I cant be bothered claiming for the delayed flights to Sharm el Sheikh in 2007 Marsa Alam in 2008 and the worst flight delay to Barbados of 14 hours is statute barred from 2004.
Good luck to everyone pursuing them its no more than they deserve!

    Dear Mrs Green,

    [Reference: TCX 2108]

I am writing to you in connection with the above flight which we were booked onto on 22nd August 2012.
The flight was supposed to depart from Manchester at 09:00, but was delayed by over 5 hours.
Under the EU Denied Boarding Regulation 261/2004, I am entitled to the sum of €400 compensation per person and look forward to receiving the sterling equivalent within the next 14 days.
    Passengers.
    etc
I am aware of the outcome from passengers claims on my flight and the reason the flight was delayed. Please do not respond with a standard reply. I am also aware of your obligation under the regulation as previously mentioned.

    Yours sincerely,

    Me

Email sent this morning as per previous post. Lets see if the nice Mrs G responds.

Nearly 14 days with no response to either my letter or email.

Let's see if tomorrow brings a nice reply !

Thomas Cook are never very forthcoming with these technical causes and they will normally create another delay by saying this is confidential information and you will need to contact the CAA.
I requested it back in March and they never even put it into their defence to the court. I am still waiting on the CAA’s report since the 3rd February even though I have sent them an e-mail three times requesting it for my pending court case.

    Hi

having all the same problems...getting told to go to the CAA, technical and confidential reasons...etc etc...is it worth going to the CCC? or CAA...

I've rang Thomas cook flight dept 3 weeks ago to request compensation on a flight I was delayed on from Palma airport to Newcastle in June 2012 when we were delayed by 8 hours coming back into Newcastle

We were told the cause was sum1 left the passenger walkway attached when moving the plane hence they had to fly another out so hopefully be entitled to compo

Not sure whether phone is the right way as letter may be more official they said expect to hear back between 6-10 weeks but not holding my breath will ring back around start July see what they say

To be honest the CAA takes over three months, nearly four in my case, even though on Watchdog the man in charge said within three months and that people should go through them before court!!

I would send the letter to the CAA but if you have sent TC your NBA letter I would now start court action through MCOL.

    Hi

I appear to have confused myself, so am hoping someone can help:

    Flight delay: 14 hours
    From: Enfidah to Manchester

For 2 people, how much can I claim for?

    Thanks in advance!
  • Anyone else claimed for this flight? I have sent several emails and a letter to TC but they have not even bothered to reply. Flight was over 4.5 hours late leaving Manchester and TC refused to give us a reason for the delay, even going so far as to close their information desk to avoid passengers questions! Have now referred my case to the CAA.

Have you sent them an nba? If you plan on taking them to court you need to get the nba sent so you can start court proceedings before the 6 year deadline. They use caa as a delaying tactic (can take months for them to investigate and even if they rule in your favour they can't enforce it and make tc pay out) which in your case could save them £ and you lose out!

You have 14 days to get you legal claim into court, otherwise you are time barred. If you haven't sent an NBA you need to do it tomorrow and get your N1 into court by 12th June
