From Monarch .... the phone lines are only open until 1.30pm to give the team time to work on your claims. They're all working very hard on investigating your claims. They can't give you any information until all the information has been gathered form all parties involved in operating your flight and a decision has been reached.
Eve4ever - apologies I thought you were asking someone to 'phone as you posted.
No worries, just been looking at their Facebook page, I think their PR team should be calling a meeting!0 -
Hi everyone
I have just called Monarch to check my cheque isn't in the post(fat chance!) before going on line and starting a small claim. I was informed that Monarch intend to complete all outstanding claims by Thursday of next week!! I asked if this meant they would be either paying up or denying the claim and I was advised, yes, on a case by case basis.
I'm going to make a prediction here that we are all going to be told to whistle for our money. :mad:0 -
with all of the techs claimed as ecs have you guys looked at which aircraft these oiccurred on? If there is a repeat history with aircraft then that cannot be EC, just poor maintenance.
The majority of my delays over the last 8 years flying weekly to Malaga have been during the summer when they use the large A300-600R (I think) plane. I am assuming these are the planes they use for the Sharm route aswell, and other popular routes. These planes are old and are due to be decommissioned by the end of 2014. This suggests they need a lot of maintenance but due to the heavy schedule that does not seem to be possible in the time allowed!!:cool:0 -

I have posted this before but for those who didn't see....
Right this is my take on Monarch Airlines coupled with a few comparisons (EasyJet and Ryanair) so you can draw your own conclusions.
Firstly the size of fleet -
Monarch > 32 planes
EasyJet > 190 planes
Ryanair > 305 planes with rumoured 150 more on order
Now the age of fleet -
Monarch > 14.5 years average with 3 Boeings over 25 years old
EasyJet > 4.4 years average all Airbus planes
Ryanair > 4.2 years average all Boeing planes
Airline profit (most recentfigures)
Monarch > £45 million loss in 2011
EasyJet > £225 million profit
Ryanair > £18 million
Number of passengers pa
Monarch > under 6 million for both charter and schedule
EasyJet > 60 million
Ryanair > 90 million
Delays (not all flight analysed just representative)
Monarch > average delay just short of 30 minutes with 3% of flights over 3 hours. Their operation from Manchester being the worst with an average delay of 36 minutes per flight.
EasyJet > average delayof 9.15 minutes with 0.49% of flights over 3 hours. Their operation from Gatwick being the worst with an average delay of 10.89 minutes
Ryanair > average delay of 8.8 minutes with 0.32% of flights over 3 hours. Their operation from Stansted being worst with average delay of 9.4 minutes.
In addition Monarch only have UK bases whereas EasyJet and Ryanair have bases throughout Europe. I will post the age of the Airbus 300 planes when I have looked it up however it stands to reason that older planes are more likely (Dreamliner excepted!) to have maintenance problems. Monarch's mixed fleet does not help either in respect of switching crews.0 -

G-MAJS - April 1991 (22) - to be disposed end 2014
G-OJMR - May 1991 (22) - to be disposed end 2014
G-MONS - Feb 1992 (21) - to be withdrawn from use end summer 2013 - even though a newer (slightly) plane this was the one I believe which was subject to newspaper 'reports'.0 -
Jezz, why do I suddenly feel like I put my life at risk booking a flight with this airline?! I suspect this airline is "nosediving" into bankruptcy, perhaps we should be putting our small claims in pronto?0

Monarch > £45 million loss

Ryanair > £18 million
When did Ryanair last make a pathetic £18m p.a. profit? In the previous six months alone they made £477m net profit ... LINK
Instructions on claiming your share are in the Ryanair forum under 'How to sue Ryanair'0 -
A Please provide proof that the circumstances that led to our delay stemmed from an extraordinary circumstance that was not inherent to the normal running of an airline. You have only claimed this, you have failed to supply proof.
B Confirm you are aware that Extraordinary Circumstance can only apply to a specific flight on a specific date and cannot be claimed for subsequent flights on subsequent dates?
C That you are aware of the Finnair Oyl v Timy Lassooy? And its content?
here is what we have been asking Monarch since they rejected the claim due to a fuel valve fault the day before on the plane that was going to be used for our flight... yes they are claiming this is an EC.....
I have asked more than once now for the answers to the following ?... here is the latest response received this am....just a rewording of the previous....AS YOU WILL SEE THEY ARE BLATANTLY IGNORING HTE ? AND DEFLECTING OR REFUSING OT ANSWER!!!!
We request you do this by return as you have already collated all the information you required to make your decision, there is no reason for any further delay in responding.0 -
sent one back asking again for the above answers.....here is the response...
Thank you for your e-mail Mrs Reynolds.
We have looked at the circumstances surrounding your claim and the legal team have rejected your claim as per our previous correspondence to you. If you are not happy with the outcome of your claim your next steps would be to contact the CAA or to take legal advice. I am sorry I cannot assist you further.0 -
