    trying to get an answer from monarch as to what order they are processing claims, Blood, stone, getting
  • My husband and I were delayed for 5 hours at Manchester on 21st September 2010, the delay was that another plane had gone tech and the airport they were flying to you can not land after midnight, they gave our plane to them and then we were given another plane 5 hours later!
    I wrote to Monarch on 14th October 2014, they wrote back quite quickly and told me to complete the claims forms, which I did, I sent them back on 22nd October 2014, on 29th October 2014 I received an automated response with no reference number on saying they would get back to me within 14 to 21 days, needless to say I have not had a further response despite chasing!

    I am not sure where to go next as I have not had a no from them as yet, but they have failed to respond within their own timelines!

    Anyone else having the same issues or could advise my next step?:)

    everyone is having the same issues, they are notorious for not replying, you can call them on 01582 531712 between 9.00am and 13.30 mon-fri, not that they will tell you anything other than "there is an an internal process that the team are working through, they will be in touch soon"

    up to you how long you are willing to wait before starting court action

    Thanks for your help glentoran99, I think I will try and call them tomorrow.

    In the job I work in we would get pulled over the coals for not sticking to our own deadlines cant believe Monarch can get away with it!

    Think I will familiarise myself with the next steps
    Thanks :-)
  • Spoke to the EU claims team today, the lady was lovely on the phone and very helpful and advised my claim was with the legal team and they would get back to me today or tomorrow.

    Got an email from them with a reference this time, the email makes reference to claims with regards to technical faults however I know the delay we experienced was not a technical fault they gave our plane away to another flight! They have now said they will get back to me within 6 weeks!

    I am going to give them another call tomorrow to try and find out what they are saying the reason for delay was!
  • You got the standard reply!

    My delay was not a technical fault either but still got chucked into the dont-call-us-we'll-call-you bucket. Their polite but unlistening reponse was the main reason I decided to take my claim through the smalls claims court.

    Interesting facts:

    1) Other airlines now appear to be joining Jet2 in their efforts to get the stays maintained (see today's post of the Thomson thread, for example);

    2) I have read of only (I think) one person reporting a payout from Monarch since the Supreme Court decision.

    3) Monarch appear to resent attempts to force the issue by starting a legal claim - and have made pretty absurd threats against those considering doing so.

    On the basis of all this, can anyone who's still waiting in good faith for their claim to be paid still think that's going to happen of Monarch's own volition?

    The email states;

    "we will have no hesitation in bringing this correspondence to the attention of a judge as it reflects our efforts to communicate with customer proactively whilst working through the high volume of claims"

    Can I still take my claim through the small claims court? I submitted my claim on 14th October 2014, should I given them more time or take to small claims now?
