Post from Facebook Complaints Page "HELP! Monarch have emailed me to say as it was more then 6 years since my delayed flight they are unable to agree to pay my claim for compensation . My flight was delayed August 2008 but my claim was on hold until the Supreme Court had reached their decision . Monarch even wrote to me to say my claim was on hold . Any advice would be much appreciated . "

Obviously there is nothing that can be done for this unfortunate passenger but, if nothing else, I hope it stands as a warning to show how Monarch continue to be that caring friendly airline.

It is also a warning that this is not a letter writing exercise: anyone who things that sending an email to the airline is sufficient is potentially in for a rude awakening. If you want the airline to take your claim seriously, you need to take it seriously yourself. Sorry if that sounds harsh - but the body of evidence is that this is also true.

As a number of airlines have now amended their terms and conditions to reduce the limitation period to two years, it means you really shouldn't hang around to get your claim in - when it is then protected.

think its also why NWNF companys will continue to make money out of this for some time to come, as certain airlines wont pay out unless you go to court and not everyone would be confident to do that themselves

I'm sure that's right. And it's a really crappy thing to do, to talk down the clock.

I know why taking legal action seems like such a big step, but it is easier now than its been before (given Huzar). And unless you are very lucky, airlines ignore everything that falls short of it.

If you want to know how desperate they are not to have people take them to court, Monarch's latest pathetic letter illustrates it perfectly.
