    Thank you.
I think I will do more research about this particular flight and get all 12 of us to complete the forms ourselves and send it all as one claim.
I saw the commission rates on the NWNF website and that put me off - it's nothing I can't do myself I'm sure.

If you are going one claim use form N1 but lead person should really be as booking and as you can expect the airline to put up a fight (compensation, interest, court fees x 12) then hopefully lead person is 'up for it'. As there are 12 of you if you did go NWNF you may be able to obtain a reduced commission rate.

Check the total value of the claim - with 12 people on one claim you may exceed the maximum for a small claim.
  • Hi

Had a 20 hour flight delay returning to Manchester from Egypt with this airline. Being messed around as booked with Thomas Cook but they chartered the flight with Monarch. After 29 days I have been told that TC will not process my claim and that I should contact Monarch direct. Frustrating that they knew it was a Monarch flight to begin with and could have saved me 29 days of waiting for nothing.

Looking for some advice on how best to claim and if anyone has had any experience / advice they could share?
  • Yes it is the airline your claim is with.

Your post will probably be moved to that thread as random posts clutter the forum up.

  • Couldn't find Monarch only in the groups or I would have posted there.

    Thanks

    Hi

I've just arrived back from a holiday to Spain.
On 28th July our monarch zb7448 flight from East Midlands to Malaga was delayed.
Our original flight was 7.20am but on arrival at 5am we were told that the plane was delayed due to operational reasons and an update would be given at 7am. Then they said more info would be at 9am. Finally at 9.30am we were told the flight would be 2.45, then they changed it to 3.45, then 4.30, then 5pm then 6pm. Then they moved it up to 2.30 pm and then back to 3.30pm when we finally took off. 8 hours late.

Every time they changed time they sent me an email so I have all of these saved.

What's confusing me is whilst on holiday I received an email off monarch apologising for the delay. It sets everything out- flight number, airports and states the delay of 7hr 55 minutes. It says it's a certificate to give to my holiday insurance to claim for delay compensation?

Are they been helpful or trying to stop me claiming from them and get me to claim off insurance instead?

Read the FAQs. What you may or may not be entitled to on your insurance has nothing whatsoever to do with their obligations to pay compensation for delays in the relevant circumstances. Subject to the particular insurance policy, you can claim both but the insurance probably doesn't apply with a delay of "only" 8 hours and, if it does, it will probably be c£20.

It is doubtful you can even claim off your insurance policy as most do not 'kick in' until the delay is 12 hours + and even then their payment is low. This Monarch tactic is just one of the games they play in order to try and discourage you from submitting your legitimate claim to them.

  • I am a new member, of "advanced" years and a bit "wet behind the ears" when it comes to technology so please be patient with me. I have been trawling through the internet trying to find details of all Monarch flights from Gibraltar to Luton that were cancelled during the 2009-2011 period. I was booked on a flight from Gibraltar to Luton during that time that was cancelled due, I was informed by Monarch, to weather/volcanic ash conditions but later learned that this was not the case. I trusted Monarch and accepted an alternative flight on the day after my original booking. I am a member of their Executive Frequent Fliers Club so have all the dates that I did fly during that period but because I have thrown all paperwork away I cannot pinpoint the flight in question. I could do this if I knew the dates of any flights cancelled during that time. Does anyone out there know how I can get access to that information? Many thanks.

Firstly you will need to be more specific regarding the date of your delay/cancellation then you will need to register (free) on flightstats.com - however it is highly likely if Monarch used the ash cloud excuse they will continue to do so if you try and submit a claim.
