Monarch utterly ungracious response is so typical and yet hilarious in its own way ...

Only just picked up on this ....fantastic article! Once again well done and even more so for putting it where it belongs in the National Press.
I received a nice phone call from the County Sheriff's of Dublin today, they didn't even need to go knocking....and Ryanair have paid up!
Full details coming soon on the Ryanair thread...
Enjoy!!Successfully sued Ryanair in 2013/14...and have been 'helping' litigants since then.
Current known score:-
Dr Watson 35 - 0 Ryanair / Ince and Co
Go to post 622 on the Ryanair thread to read how to sue them safely.0 -
Funnily enough, my good lady wife has just given me today's post. It has a letter from Monarch, dated from Wednesday, to say that they are now settling my claim and require me to sign a "Notice of Discontinuance". Erm, I think the judge discontinued it quite effectively, thanks all the same.
Their letter also says that "the settlement amount and terms of settlement are strictly confidential between the parties". Er, no they are not. You lost in court, in public, and that's why your excuse for an airline got reported in the Daily Mail. Sorry about that.
And I'll be filing your form in the bin.
Don't bin it, frame it and hang it over the WC.......If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Hi just wanted to say I recently won compensation from Monarch for flight ZB684 Manchester to Sharm el Sheik on the 29th June 2013 … I got the CAA involved and had an email from Monarch to say the cheques were in the post for nearly £500 each.
Definitely worth claiming!0 -

Thanks for that, I've updated the OP.
I note that the poster at # 3767 has successfully claimed for the same flight through Bott & Co.0 -
I need to add my success too. Monarch 303 Manchester to Orlando 15 June 2012. Monarch first declined, appealed via CAA then out of blue, cheque arrived from Monarch today. Completely surprised as no correspondence received and had decided I lost.
Only paid for 1 passenger though, so now probably need to fight for rest (we travelled as family of 5)
This flight is listed on the won't pay list btw.

Have just seen in the Travel Trade Press news.
Monarch has lost a flight delay case after a judge ruled that it had to pay compensation for a 24-hour delay caused by a cracked windscreen.
Monarch was ordered to pay £2,475 compensation, £435 costs and £368 in interest.
Flight was Sharm el Sheikh to Gatwick April 2012.
Monarch was not in court to hear the verdict, saying that it had been “sufficiently confident of the robustness of its case”.
No doubt this will appear somewhere in the press with fuller details
